Anyone tried the S&W M&P 9 Compact with the 10lb trigger pull? Are they manageable for pretty decent groups? Or is the 10 lbs too much?

Thanks

10# is too much. You can have a trigger job done on them (or do it yourself) for very short money. Mine runs about 5.5# and shoots quite well.

Test fired one at the range. Granted it was a range gun and subject to not being cared for, but I wasn't impressed with the trigger at all. I want to get the Apex kit for my M&P9 fs.

I have two M&P's, the Shield and a 45c both with Ma 10 lb. triggers. I'm no trigger aficionado but both needed and had trigger jobs that brought them to 5-6.5 lbs and smooth.

All my M&Ps received trigger jobs by gunsmiths. My 9c came to me that way as the prior owner had it done by Dave Santurri. My other M&Ps I gave to Greg Derr for 5# triggers.

They do get somewhat better with use, but it's an expensive way to do a trigger job!!! My FS 45 was 11# OOB and 8# after 500 rds, measured with Lyman digital trigger gauge. Those 500 rds cost me multiples of what that trigger job cost me!

Just get the gun repaired, the MA trigger is pure shit.

ma triggers suck I had both of my M&P's done.
They are like new guns with a decent trigger.
Greg Derr in Marshfield did mine

10lb trigger is TERRIBLE. Anytime you decided to buy a M&P inside Massachusetts you have to factor in the cost of a new triggerl

FIFY, two of mine were Free America versions (LE) and no joy, both had terrible triggers.

I put several hundred rounds through mine with the Mass trigger, and dry fired it hundreds and hundreds of times with a Laserlyte laser cartridge trying to perfect my 10 pound technique. I don't know how I would have gotten any good at it without the Laserlyte to show me when wasn't holding it steady through the entire pull, but I got to the point where I could hit with it pretty decently when firing slow using two hands, after getting set. However, I decided getting much better at rapid-fire and one-handed use was probably not in the cards, and the worst part was slamming the trigger into the frame with every pull. So I got the Apex DCAEK installed. It's fine now. I won't say it has a great trigger, but it's good.
