has anyone bought a S&W AR yet? I went to the springfield show and didn't find much I liked, so we went over to Smith & Wesson Performance center. I ordered one stripped lower and my dad ordered two. They are only charging $125 for them and it only took three weeks to get. I see guys selling dpms, stag, and bushmasters for $250. Whats the deal? I have not heard anything bad about the S&W recivers. If your military or a veteran they take %10 off. I ordered lpk which seems to be hard to come by. I bought a CZ VP-22 complete upper to shoot .22lr through. I have two bushmasters already so I thought a cheaper shooter would be fun.

People are price gouging. Since S&W is a manufacturer and the SWSSC is their direct retail outlet, they sell at their normal price and don't gouge.

My S&W M&P 15FT is a great little carbine. No issues with 2,000 rounds of everything through it. [smile]

FYI Stag arms makes most of there parts. If you buy a STAG arms AR its the same thing as the M&P.

We've gone over this before. For the first year or so that the M&P15 line was out, Stag made them. Production is now mostly in house and S&W uses LMT parts (bolt and trigger group). One exception is the Performance Center 24" varmint rifle is made by Sun Devil.

Anyway, I also own the M&P15FT and I like it a lot. I've had no real problems, it's very accurate and the big fireball out the front makes me giggle. Here's mine:

Thanks for the correction, I did not know that. Few years ago is why I bought my STAG, cause I figured if S&W is willing to put there name on it, it must be decent.

No problem and there's absolutely nothing wrong with a Stag. At this point I think the S&Ws are a bit of a step up but they cost more too.

The Performance Center model is no longer made by Sun Devil. It uses a Yankee Hill Hand Guard.

2007 Model which I just Picked up at CCG:

Who makes the scope you have on there?

I ordered one through Kittery Trading Post last week. The guy I spoke with highly recommended it. Of course it will take forever and a day for them to be in stock but I'm on the list.

OMFG Did anyone notice the price on that SOB.

I thought with its shortness its a perfect scope for my AR57 but I would have to give up one of my AR57's to be able to afford it.

Model #: TA01NSN
Price:$1,175.00
Lead Time:10-12 weeks

I didn't pay that much. I got it from http://www.samplelist.com/.

Besides, it's a really nice optic and will never break. There's a lot to be said for good optics.

Well I just got a trackig number for my lower parts kit's I ordered from Model1sales. I should have them in a couple of days. Not a bad turnaround, less than 2 weeks. All the others said 8-10weeks. I just need to order some sites or optics for my 22lr upper and I will try it out.

Subhunter, how was Model1 to deal with? They had parts in stock!?

15FT vs. 15ORC

I'm following this thread with great interest and have been ogling the S&W website ever since. Looking at the M&P15 product line, I see two models that appear very similar: the 15FT, which apparently several folks here own, and the 15ORC.

15ORC:

From what I can tell, the only difference appears to the the handguard, and the folding sights on the FT. Both appear to be MA-legal. But the FT's list price is $675 more than the ORC. Is there something else I am missing about the FT? If I was going to put optics on it anyway, what would I be missing out on if I just went with the ORC and spent the price difference on glass? Also, why does the FT appear to have a bigger magazine in it? They are both listed as 10-round mags.
