S&W M&P AR 15's

I'm following this thread with great interest and have been ogling the S&W website ever since. Looking at the M&P15 product line, I see two models that appear very similar: the 15FT, which apparently several folks here own, and the 15ORC.

From what I can tell, the only difference appears to the the handguard, and the folding sights on the FT. Both appear to be MA-legal. But the FT's list price is $675 more than the ORC. Is there something else I am missing about the FT? If I was going to put optics on it anyway, what would I be missing out on if I just went with the ORC and spent the price difference on glass? Also, why does the FT appear to have a bigger magazine in it? They are both listed as 10-round mags.

So what are the prices you're seeing? I got my FT shortly after it was released and there was a rebate going on, so I paid $1150 after rebate.

As Vellneuve pointed out, the sights and railed forend aren't cheap. I priced out what it would have cost me to build the equivalent and the FT was actually a bit cheaper, at the time.

According to the S&W website, MSRPs are:

15FT: $1770
15ORC: $1095

I have no idea what that translates to in terms of actual street price at a shop these days, but it sounds like you got your FT at pretty close the current list price for the ORC. Nice.

Ah, you're talking MSRP. I don't remember the exact MSRP when I got mine but I know it was around that figure. I don't know how the MSRP translates to street price these days with all the insanity. At the time I got mine, street price was around 2/3 of MSRP.

You're right though that the FT will be a lot more regardless. So, maybe that's the way to go.

Model1sales was great to deal with. I called in my order. I called all day from 10 to 1 and finally got through. I read in the most recent shotgun news, a guy placed an internet order just before the election and the service was great. I had no problem with them. The woman who took my order said they get the parts kits from a bunch of different goverment contractors.

When we went in and ordered the recivers they had about 15 complete rifles. When we went back to pick them up they had two left. they were the flat top with the long rails. I think they were $1200

I found DSA AR 15 lowers for $95.00 each plus the transfer and shipping when I was looking at their DSA Type 1 WO / CHC for 350.00 each FAL FILES deal.

If you get your Dealers FFL and sent it to them Via E MAIL, US MAIL OR FAX Should get the dealer price of $95.00

BTW not that you cant buy what ever you want but check out the Rep of Model 1 sales before laying down your green for their products.

From everything I have heard on the web and especially what others are saying on Calguns.net their products are real garbage.

I have heard good things about the S&W lowers.

Well got my lower parts kit from Model 1 sales today, put it together with my S&W receiver. fit great. no problems.I would order from them again if I needed something. I put my V-22 upper on it but it's a real tight fit. I will have to try it at the range.
