Not just because the moron party really doesn't like it, but I thought now is the time to add to the collection. I'm looking for pros and cons from those in the know about these 2 wheel guns. Thanks,
CJ

The 29 is a classic 44 Magnum. The -2 version was first built in 1961 and was
built until 1982. The -3 version was introduced then and was built until 2004.
I know nothing about the 629. If you aren't interested in the 29 could you let
me know if your friend is in MA as I might be interested depending on the shape
the pistol is in and the asking price.

Thanks,

TBP

The 629 is the stainless version of the 29.

Three things to consider. What's important to you:

1)blue Vs Stainless
2)age / collectablity
3) cool factor

Blued - cool classic look, vs stainless indestructibility

Age/collectability - the Dirty Harry image in a collectible classic or the stainless indestructibility of the 629

Cool factor: this is subjective according to a recent NES poll.

That being said, this is mine a 629-1...only because it came available first:

Yes, thanks for the reply. I'm in the process of trying to locate either one. While I see many 629's, the DX Classic is a selected group of exceptionallly accurate .44 mag and seems to be very few and far between. Seems that the full lug would mitigate some recoil. I'm not sure which of the two would hold its value as an investment. Too many variables to consider, I guess.

Pilgrim,
Also thanks for the reply. Seems pretty clear that you feel that the stainless version has the edge over the blued, relative to indestructibility. I'm looking for a collectable/shooter, and availability will be a consideration. I'm guessing that the relative value going forward between these 2 may be a wash. Like you, my selection may come down to which is discovered first.
