Sound off, anyone else loving their Shield 9mm or .40S&W?

I did a months worth of research on it and finally pulled the trigger a couple of weeks ago when they became available again.

Took it to the range, the sights are dead on, and I can shoot either 8rd mag or 7rd mag the same with a 5 inch group at 11 yards.

I've tried some other compact plastic 9mm (Ruger LC9, Keltec PF9) and .380's (S&W bodyguard, Keltec) and the Shield is way more comfortable to shoot accurately. And the trigger pull is very nice (I have the 'out of state' trigger). It's really similar to using the M&P 9mm, rather than a sub compact. It's a little large for pocket carry, but it works.

the shield is awesome.. only reason i sold it is because i used it to fund my norinco mak 90

that and i missed carrying my glock 26..

I am glad to see this thread. I am considering the Shield in 9mm. I have a full sized 9mm M&P with the Apex trigger kit installed. I imagine the Shield would be a good option for carry due to the similarity to my full sized. I won't go as light as my < 3 lb trigger for a carry gun though, but I will do the trigger. I hope to get a chance to shoot one before I buy it, but I am not in a rush to get one. I also understand that they are not easy to find.

love mine, but thinking of having the trigger done
Definitely have the trigger done. With the shield you need to remove the rear sites which can be troublesome. I had mine done by Business End Customs in Peabody and couldn't be happier wit the job Lou did.

Yes I picked up one in 9mm last week and am obsessed with it. I def need to do the apex. I'm not these best with trigger control so I'm hoping the apex will help. Have a iwb holster on the way

if I do ill most likely have night sites installed at same time

My 9mm Shield is my go to carry gun. It's comfortable to shoot and carry. OP, try the Springfield XDS .45 and you'll find that almost as easy to shoot as a 9mm Shield.

My M&P 45 is a complete and utter piece of garbage. Purchased it brand new from MFS. It's never run right. Been back to S&W 3 times now and it still isn't right. I keep sending it in for the same damn issues and it comes back with the same damn issues... Really annoying...

Never had had an issue with my Glock, Sig, Beretta, Kahr, Ruger, and company... My M&P is the last gun I would carry. I don't even trust it for a day at the range, never mind self defense.

Still waiting for S&W to make it right. It's only been about 5 months at this point. Maybe sometime next year they'll get it.

whats wrong with it?

I disagree but only on personal grounds.

The grip ride is too high and the gun just ends up point up a little when I point.
Also I prefer 40 so I can turn it into a .357 sig but not with a gun that light.

I routinely shoot .357 Sig and 9mm from my M&P .40 Compact. Flawless and completely manageable, no matter what size rounds I send down range through it.

One of the reasons why I picked it up was because I live in MA. Getting a 10+ round capacity cc NEW out of the box from a dealer was out of the question. I didn't want the MA gun laws to "stipulate" my max capacity. I let S&W determine that. Overall, a nice round package with a MA 10# trigger which I prefer to keep. Thanks for the recommendations on the Apex kits! I am going to get used to the 10#er first and then look into the Apex.

We all know that there's tons of personal preference that comes into play in this game but I bet you'll kick yourself in the ass after getting that trigger done for not doing it right away. MA 10lb triggers just suck and the difference is night and day after a good trigger job.
