S&W Performance Center. Worth the $$$?

I can't speak to the PC revolvers but I echo what others are stating here. I have a 3" 945 and it nothing short of amazing. I do own normal smith revolvers and have no complaints.

What you can take from this is that their products are 'hit or miss'. I think it is best to go over the offering before buying. Of the half dozen S&W guns I've had my paws on there was only one that I didn't need to correct in one way or another.
My friend had sent his PC 327 back 3 times for a loosening barrel problem. He got a refund when he was told the frame was cracked the whole time.

In my opinion, the good guns that come out the Performance Center are really what should be coming off of the 'standard' production floor...deburred, barrels clocked properly, etc.

My experience (revolver only, 3 PC, 4 non PC) is that the new PC guns are put together with the same parts as the regular revolvers, with the exception of a bossed mainspring. Only one of my PC guns had any evidence of actual hands on care - a polished rebound slide.

The difference is primarily marketing - there's very little overlap between their standard line and their PC line. Want a 6" 9mm revolver or 5" 627 - it's going to be a PC. Want a 4" 686 - no PC offerings.

So if the gun you want is made by the PC, you have little choice in the matter. I've had to send both PC and regular guns back.
