Anyone own or shot one of these? I saw one today for $275 (with a cheap scope) and it looked very nice. I love the Savage Accutrigger and have been looking for a reasonably accurate plinker (my Spike's upper is accurate, but I can rarely restrain myself from mag dumps).

Any thoughts?

I have a stainless/thumbhole/accutrigger/heavy barrel Mk II, which I picked up at the beginning of last month and haven't fired yet. If all goes as planned, I'll be able to report on it tomorrow.

If it's anything like the Savage 93 I got in 17HMR, it will shoot great. That one has the standard wood stock on it, which I didn't like. With the comb of the stock dropping down as it approaches the receiver, I couldn't ever find a good spot for a cheek weld that would also let me see through the scope. Ended up making a kydex cheek rest for it. The thumbhole stock has a high straight comb that I like better - high enough that they had to put a groove in it to get the bolt out.

Rimfire central has a lot of reviews and commentary on the Mk II rifles. To sum up those posts, it's open to debate whether Savage or CZ makes a more accurate sporter bolt action 22 - but every once and a while Savage lets a rifle out of the factory that QC should have stopped. Magazine problems are the most common of those - fixable with tweaking the mags or the rifle, though.

I went to buy this one not sure if I wanted to order the Savage or the CZ 452, and I knew it would be a special order for a left handed one. There was one Mk II at the shops distributor, and the distributor thought he might see another lefty CZ 452 American any time after the 5th of never. So, I got the Savage.....

Hopefully, I'll get it to the range tomorrow. [smile]

I have one of the savage MKII thumbhole bolt guns. It was my 1st rifle. The accutrigger is great. It is very accurate, and the cheap scope (simmons I think?) that came on it is serviceable, although I will probably swap it out someday for a Nikon or such...
I put a Harris bipod on mine and it is a blast to shoot. You won't be disappointed.

I bought my dad a Savage MarkII for fathers day. i got him the plain jane non accutrigger one, wood stock, scope...from dicks for $150 on sale. there is a little play in the regular trigger, but i plan to shim it. otherwise it shoots great and its a very fun gun to take out. best of all it eats up the cheap winchester bricks that my CZ HATES!

overall definatly a great little gun for the money. i have heard good things about the accutrigger. i like his rifle so much i have been eyeing one in .308 :)

i have 2 of them. one in 17 hmr and one in 22 mag both shoot great the 17 is bull barreled and on an avenger stock it will shoot one ragged hole at 50 yds and sub 3/4'' groups at 100 yds the 22 mag is a reg barrel ad shoots slightly larger groups with hornady ammo. i paid 199.99 brand new for the 22 mag well worth the money IMHO

Picked one up from Dick's today. Standard stock, Accutrigger, and heavy target barrel. Looks great and comes with a cheapo Simmons 3x9x40. It was on clearance for $200.

Only thing that sucks is that the box was so beat up that the barrel slowly slid out of the box and scratched the edge of the muzzle against the pavement. Luckily, the heavy barrel and recessed crown means that it's very minor cosmetic damage only, some cold blue should fix that right up.

Love it. I never shot and then sold my ruger after buying. The 10 round mags also fit it.

Dicks has the blued ones on sale as well, Probably what you are refering to.

I will be at the MRA tomorrow AM if you want to give it a try shoot me a PM.
