Shane Coley Crowned Single Stack Champ At Smith & Wesson Steel Shoot Series Louisiana Regional

SEDRO-WOOLEY, WA — Shane Coley was crowned the Single Stack Division Champ at the Smith & Wesson Steel Shoot Series Louisiana Regional by posting the fastest time on all eight stages. The match was held July 19-20 at the Shootout Range in Princeton, Louisiana.

Coley shot a strong match, posting winning scores on all eight stages and a match score of 125.24 seconds. Second place finisher Mark Self, found himself nearly 50 seconds behind Coley with a score of 174.45, but just ahead of third place shooter Sloan Tranum’s 179.68. Tranum also placed third in the Production Division. Coming in fourth and fifth were Adelo Aquino with 223.96 and Rocky Coley with 252.72 respectively.

“There were several outstanding performances at the Louisiana Regional and Shane’s is included among them. Speed Shooting is highly competitive making it very difficult for any one shooter to dominate a division. While Shane was tied by another shooter on two stages, he clearly demonstrated both speed and the all important consistency to win the match,” said Dave Thomas, Executive Director of the Steel Challenge Shooting Association (SCSA).

The Louisiana Regional crowned championships in the Open Rimfire Pistol, Revolver Iron, Production Pistol, Open Pistol and Limited Pistol divisions as well as Single Stack.

The Steel Shoot Series Louisiana Regional is one of four regional championships in the sport of Speed Shooting which is governed by the Steel Challenge Shooting Association (SCSA). The four match series is sponsored by noted firearms maker Smith and Wesson which has a long and distinguished record of supporting the shooting sports in America.

Remaining matches in the series include the Virginia Regional in Fredericksburg, Virginia the weekend of August 1-3 and the Northwest Regional hosted by the Albany Rifle & Pistol Club in Albany, Oregon the weekend of September 26-28.

The format for Speed Shooting consists of courses of fire, or stages, that are made up of five steel targets which are electronically timed to one one-hundredth of a second. Competitors shoot each stage five times with their slowest run eliminated. The combined time of the best runs is their score for that stage and their combined score of all the stages is their match score. The number of stages can vary but usually mirrors the eight stages of the World Speed Shooting Championships.
