I have a 4" model 65; looking to convert to 3" barrel. Any recommendations? Doesn't need to be SE MA, in state though.

Why not just see if you can get a three inch barrel and have it rebarreled? Start with S&W then try Numrich Arms.

Shortening a barrel is not really a major operation. Smiths did it frequently back in the day when revolvers ruled the earth. Greg Derr is excellent but for this I would recommend somebody old school like Mike LaRocca.

Good advice here. Yes it can be shortened, then recrowned, then a new sight system has to be machined in and a few other things.

Neponset Valley Gunsmiths, frabrication is his speciality, makes ar barrels for fun.

Is Kulas Customs in Pocasset still around? I've heard he does smith work. I haven't seen them at any gun shows in a while.

See if Kulas can do it as he is on Cape.

From there, do a search and youll see there are a few names that repeatedly pop up here on Nes .
