Sig 1911

+1.

M1911, I also do not like the series 80 lockwork. I love the series 70 1911's. The trigger is so much smoother. I don't know anything about work being done to the SR1911 trigger but I am sure people do it.

It is just like any other Series 80 1911 in terms of lock work so any decent 1911 gun plumber can do a trigger job.

I do like this one alot.

I bought the Sig Fastback nightmare a short while ago and it shoots great and looks great but it is not much different than my S&W 1911TA for shooting (not looks) so I will be selling it soon to fund the gun the compact 1911 I just bought today [grin]

I have a Sig 1911 SS target, it is my favorite by far. Accurate and totally reliable. I have 1,800 rounds of my reloads through it with no problems. I let lots of people shoot it, the response is always the same. "that is a nice shooting gun!". One day I did not think I was going to get it back from a guy who was shooting his Colt Gold Cup. Get it!

I absolutely love my Sig 1911 XO. While replacing the trigger a gunsmith/friend came over for a beer and couldn't believe the quality of the internal parts. He mentioned that the stock hammer & sear rivaled anything he has seen in other high-end 1911's.

I was at the range last night and I believe my Sig gsr 1911 broke. The first round shoots and the next round chambers with no issues at all. I pull the trigger and nothing happens. I cleared the round and chambered a new one. the first round shot perfect the second round again would not fire. The hammer is cocked back the round is in the chamber but it's like the safety is on. Any suggestions? I'm planning on sending to sig if my NES friends can't help.

Thanks in advance!

When you say nothing happens, did the hammer fall or not? Was the hammer cocked after the first round fired, or did it follow the slide down?

Is it falling to half cock or is it all the way back?

The hammer is cocked back but does not fall. I pull the trigger and nothing happens as if the safety was on. If I push down on the hammer it locks into place and will fire. The odd thing is it looks completely ready to fire. It's not stuck in the middle half cocked.

I'm confused. Are you saying that the hammer is back, but not all the way back? And that pulling it farther back by hand then allows it to fire?

Yes. I've cleaned it, oiled the mags, and even adjusted the trigger. Nothing helped it to fully reset.

If the hammer is back, but not all the way back, then it is falling to half cock. There may not enough sear engagement, negative engagement or not enough spring pressure.

How have you adjusted the trigger? not enough over travel can cause issues. Don't oil your mags

There's an adjustment option that comes with the sig. I can adjust the trigger with an allen wrench. I loosened it and tightened it every which way. I won't oil the mags anymore but how do I adjust the over travel? I'm not sure what that is? Any advice would be great! This has become my favorite range gun!

Stop messing with it if you are not a gunsmith. Send it back to SIG or take it to a good 1911 gunsmith like Greg Derr.

That allen screw in the trigger is the over travel adjustment, it sets how far the trigger will travel, not enough travel and the sear will not reset. I high suspect that the sear spring needs to be adjusted and hammer hooks need to be squared off to the sear. As M1911 said, time to take it to a professional. Since you are south shore, I would also recommend Greg Derr. He is in Marshfield
