Looking into buying a SIG 226 in .40cal.
Heard about company called Bar-Sto Precision Machining that makes drop in 9mm barrels for the .40 SIG226.
Their web site says just drop the barrel in, switch to a 9mm magazine and ready to go.
Does anyone have any experience with these?
I'm guessing if SIG wanted 9mm barrels in the .40 model they'd make them available for sale. Or maybe they don't sell them because it would mean less whole 9mm 226 handguns sold?
I already own a 9mm in the Beretta 92FS but the being able to go from .40 to 9mm with the SIG226 would be great, especially for the range.
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Yes, I have a 9mm drop in barrel for both a Sig 226 and Sig 229. They work great.

I use 9mm mags in this configuration, and I also use the 9mm recoil spring when it's setup like this.

Thank you for your responses guys.
Hope to pick up the .40 SIG 226 this week.
I will follow your advice and use the 9mm spring with the 9mm barrel.
Maybe invest in a whole 9mm slide from SIG sometime down the road.
I'm a fairly new NES member, can't say enough good things about my experiences with it so far.
Thanks again.

kgmg, check out Top Gun Supply for Sig parts if you haven't found them yet. I have the 9mm recoil spring permanent attached to an extra guide rod. No need to keep taking the springs on and off one guide rod that way.

Also, SigForum is a great place to pick up used Sig stuff. You'll see a lot here on NES too, but it's another resource.

Barsto is one of the premier pistol barrel manufacturers. Their stuff tends to be more expensive but well worth the money.
