I recently purchased a Sig 238. Have put about 100 rounds of federal and Remington .380 through it. Had one small snag but chalked it up to break in/user error. Felt pretty good about it and filled a mag with Hornady Critical. Problem is, they won't load when I rack the slide. They jam and stovepipe before going in. I think the edge of the hollow point catches against the chamber. My question(s), anybody else have this problem? Is it a gun issue or ammo issue? Any suggestions on how to handle this? Send it to Sig? Any thought appreciated.

I use fed premium HST hollow point no issues with that at all in my p238. have not tried the hornady have to give it a try.

I have a ppk/s in 380. One thing I've noticed on .380's is you want a mirror finish on the ramps. Seems that's where most of the issues arise. As for ammunition, I just stick with ball, S&B's to be specific for factory. They have a little more umph to them then the others.

Thanks to all who replied. Appreciate the input. I always clean and lube a firearm before using, will make sure the feed ramp is polished, will stick to ball for a while and if the problem persists, it will go back to Sig. Got a course up there in a couple of weeks anyway so I'll bring it with me.

No problems with mine and I have run a couple boxes of that Hornady through it since it's what I carry.

Personally I hate finicky guns so I would send it back to sig and get it fixed.

Might be worth a look but the ammo has the orange rubber can it be a bad batch where it might be sticking out a little more then it should?

When my 239 was new I had the same issue. Didn't last long at all. If I rode the slide the tiniest bit it would cause a problem, racking with force avoided it. I wasn't many boxes of ammo before it didn't happen at all. Maybe a bit more lube while it breaks in?
