I have a P226/9mm with a stamped slide (so, one of the older ones with the rolled pins).

I had repeatable FTE with some older factory ammo. Kid Presentable was there and had a look see with a flashlight and noticed that the extractor claw looks a little rounded.

Is this an end-user servicable replacement or should I buy a new claw and take it to a gunsmith?

I've previously managed to take apart my Glock 23 slide and reassemble it without obviously screwing it up, but I have no pin set tools, so that might be a precurement cost factor.

A worn extractor is the most likely cause of your FTEs. I've replaced a couple on my Sig that gets the most use. (I hope you're not dropping a round in the chamber and then closing the slide - bad, very, very bad!) The problem you'll have is that it's very hard to find these extractors.

You can do this yourself, but it helps to have the right tools and know what you're doing. You'll also want to replace the roll pin.

I have a small supply of some aftermarket extractors that are great. I'm also a Sig Armorer. If we can arrange a mutually agreeable meet up I'll sell you an extractor at cost and show you how to install it. I'll PM my #
