I just picked up a nice P229 .40 da/sa and after two trips to the range it's clear that I am better with the double action pull. As I'm a longtime revolver shooter it's not surprising. I want to have it converted to dak, I'm wondering if it's worth the money to have Sig do it, or if there is a Sig armorer more local that can do it, or if it's something I can do myself.

Not all frames support the DAK trigger. If you have one that does the conversion isn't hard but it's expensive if you buy the parts new. Your best bet is to find someone who did the opposite conversion and has the DAK parts left over.

According to Sig, the frame will support it, I'll see if anyone has the parts leftover or wants to straight up trade a DAK model for mine, but it sounds like I'm going to end up just having Sig do it.

Thanks for the response.

Or find someone who wants to trade. I suspect there are more people wanting to go DAK -> DA/SA than the direction you desire, so you might quickly find someone.

Thanks, I just posted an ad for that. Hopefully you are right.

Try posting a "want to buy" on the Sig forums too. You might find someone with the DAK parts left over from a conversion who will give you a deal. Any Sig armorer (or anyone with basic mechanical ability at all) would be able to do the swap.
