I had this problem with one 229. Sig will definitely polish the feed ramp if you want to go that route.
Take this for what it's worth, but I think this has more to do with the slide not properly cycling. On the 229 where I had this problem, the recoil spring / guide rod fit was really tight. I ended up with a deformed recoil spring. If you field strip yours, is the spring really hard to get off the guide rod? And when it comes off, it's is compressed in one area and expanded in another? That's what mine looked like (it was a used 229).
I replaced the guide rod with an aftermarket rod and bought a new spring. Never had a problem after that. I have another 229 with a plastic guide rod, and the spring does not bind up at all.
