Does SIG make a P229 with stainless SLIDE & FRAME ? I only see them with the stainless slide.

And if so , are they MA compliant?

The frame is Aluminum on the 229.

so no stainless frame.

Thanks jon......That is Interesting...So Is this a fake picture?

Did that pic come from Crimson Trace? Possibly the frame was re-done somehow to make it look like this? I am by no means a Sig expert but I do not recall any factory P229s that come that way.

Yes, they do... and no, they aren't MA compliant.

The SIG in the above pic is no longer made... the stainless frame models now all have the rail.

Hi FPrice, It did not come from crimson trace but they used the same p229 for there ad.

I'm really hoping to find out they do indeed have these available. What a nice looking gun.

EDIT: Thanks nanerclip, Not what I wanted to hear.. :( .. What is the rail you are referring to?

The frame has an accessory rail system for mounting lights/lasers. The same as with all of the new production (base model) 22X series pistols.

If you want to see it made MA compliant, call or e-mail SIG. They are currently working on getting some new pistols approved right now (my contact hasn't said which models - I know some or one is from their 1911 line up).

Thanks again for the explanation nanerclip. I would think resellers with a huge turn over might have some pull. Do they really take into consideration the little guy when making Ma compliant guns?

Thank you David. I have not checked out there forum yet .. But I will head over there tonight when I have some more time. :)

Not sure when they made them but they did make this gun as I had one that I had bought used and I recently sold it to another NES member-and regret it [sad] Here is a pic.

It was a 229 in .357 SIG

Wow, these things are nice on the eye to say the least. How much did you get for it if you don't mind me asking?

Not to go off topic buttt..

I'm also looking at an 220 ST CPO.

Do they sell 22 cal conversion kits for these?
Are they MA compliant?
What does CPO stand for???

CPO - Certified Pre-Owned
Yes, they make a 22 conversion kit for the 220's.
The 220 ST is out of production, every now and again you see used ones for sale. Try a WTB in the classifieds here.

OK.. thanks so much .. I actually have someone that has a couple of these in stock ATM. $619. Do you know if these are MA compliant??

Also, can you point me in the direction of these conversion kits? I couldn't seem to find them.

No, the ST's aren't MA compliant.

Some of the newer ones might not be but the classic series ST's certainly
were, so at least at one point you could get P220-STs and P226-ST
models, although I don't even know if they make them anymore.

Are you looking at the P220-ST because of aesthetics or for something else? IMO the regular P220s are actually a better handling gun, they weigh a hell of a lot less, and I don't think the recoil is really that much different. The P220-ST was really "all dressed up and no place to go" more or less. It was an answer in search of the question that was never asked. [grin] If you like the way it looks, go for it, but IMO you'd be better off with an old school german/w.german alloy framed P220.

Hi Mike, purely looks.. I love the look of the stainless. Seems I may have a hard time finding one that is MA compliant though. Maybe I would be better off getting a alloy framed one hard chromed?

Can the .40 cal barrel be replaced in the 229 with the .357sig version?

Holy thread bump. Yes, the barrels are interchargeable. Be aware however, that the .40 and .357 factory sights will have slightly different
points of impact. May not make much of a difference at close range.
