I think I am going to replace my bodyguard .380 with the Sig P238. Could anyone who either owned or has owned one of these share there opinion? It is an expensive little gun and I want to see if you get what you pay for. Thank you.

i've got a p238 , i like it a lot but am planning on replacing it with a larger firearm for daily/work carry (since i can open carry at work).
it's very concealable, and since i got the extended mag and overmolded hogue grips it is super comfy to shoot.
it broke in nicely after a few hundred rounds, and the trigger is a lot more crisp than the bodyguard. also is not as long of a pull.

i've never fired the bodyguard before but i have been told by various customers that the sig compared to the bodyguard is like night and day, and that the sig is much more accurate. having never fired one myself i cannot really say for sure, but i will admit i am somewhat biased against polymer frames.

if i wasnt super crazy busy i'd offer to go to the range with ya and let you try mine out.

edit: not getting rid of my sig, just not going to carry it daily unless i need to conceal it.

I made the same mistake as you buying a BG380. Sig 238 was my replacement gun as well. Can't be happier. If you're in the Bedford area, you're welcome to come try mine at my club.

I have owned both guns. I no longer own the BG horrible gun to shoot.i love the sig 238 enjoyable gun to shoot. If u figure in what it will cost u to get the BG to shoot nice like the sig. They would be around the same price. Try the sig buy the sig.

It will be the best upgrade you will ever make.. I've had mine for over two years now and the only problem I've had with it is I shoot it better than my P220

I had too many FTF's in my 238. Also, the slide stop started falling out. That tiny spring that retains it is easy to bend, so be careful when cleaning it. Those two things made me decide to get rid of it. Just my experience with it. Too bad because I really liked shooting it.

Have had mine for about a month and a half. Love the gun, hate the trigger. Can't understand why Sig puts a piece of shit plastic trigger with a 10lb pull on a $500+ gun? It's SINGLE ACTION for Christ's sake! Not to mention the trigger pinches my finger between the trigger and guard. I'd also prefer that the thumb safety engage the slide like "real" 1911's do. I paid $550 at Shooters for the "Sports" model, 1 6rnd mag + 1 7 rnd extnded mag. PSA currently has them for $469.
I've had NO feeding issues with round nose(Blazer) Hornady Critical Defense, nor even with the flat pointed WWBox.

Thank you for the offer but I live way out in Western mass. Very kind of you.

roccoracer, where in Western Mass do you live? I live by Ludlow, Ma and we could meet up at Springfield Sportsman next weekend, and i'll let you put some rounds through my P238. Always willing to help out a fellow NES brother. Let me know.

I run a P238 and like it alot, just stay away from Tula .380 steel case ammo (bad ammo). I have shot a BG380 and hated it horrible long trigger pull.

I love my sig p238 the trigger is awesome and they come in many versions. I also have the sig p938 which is the 9mm and the trigger is good too but not as good as the p238. But im sure you will be more then satisfied with it and wont regret the buy

I have shot both and own the Sig p238. The bodyguard was very cheaply made in my opinion, I shot 3-4 magazines worth and then tried the Sig and loved the way it I was able to handle it. But hands down the Sig is a far superior gun. Probably the only ultra sub compact I would compare campare it against is the Glock 42.

I have a friend w/ a bg380. I tried it, and checkd 'em out in the store. The long dao trigger sucks.

After much research into "pocket guns" I got a p238 last month. It'll be my wife's once her ltc comes in. We both shot it and it's a nice little shooter. I disagree w/ the poster above re: the safety. We like that you can rack the slide w/ the safety on.

I just don't like that the slide can rack out of battery when holstering it. Doesn't do it in a Kydex holster, but DOES do it in a Tagua leather IBW holster.

I handled a P238 at my lgs yesterday. I am very disappointed in the trigger. The trigger was breaking at nearly 9lbs. It is a beautiful pistol and the build quality is excellent but at $650 the trigger should match what the website says (5 lbs).

mass compliant models have to be heavier, i think?
on the sig website it says in the specs for all of them that it's 7.5-8.5lbs
it might be a mental thing, but when i first got mine the trigger seemed a lot heavier than it does now
