Can a dealer sell a SIG P320 FCU under new laws? It's a frame/unfinished receiver but the 320 is ON the roster. And since the FCU is the serialized part, I think it should be ok, right? What's the NES consensus?

Thanks!

No legal issues with you buying one. Ask some dealers and see if any are selling FCUs.

One thing with the FCUs is that they’re non-safety. And the regular P320s on the approved rosters are safety versions. The X-Five is on the target list, but the FCUs are assuredly not X-Five FCUs.

Thanks for the info. The law is working as intended by causing confusion.

The important thing to remember is that the regulations for the approved rosters is only on the dealers. You as the buyer aren’t at risk of anything. If a dealer will sell you something off-roster, that’s on them not you. Still, agreed, the confusion is a feature not a bug.

Have spoken to one of my long time go to FFLs at the Mill about this very thing as I like to build my Sigs rather than buy them. They will no longer be selling them as they do not specifically appear on the roster. It’s possible it’s their interpretation but do with that information what you will.

Alternatively something to also consider is any 320 frame doesn’t actually have the serial number on the outside like the law I believe specifically states it has to in order to be compliant. It is a window so you can see the serial number. This is a question I have actually. What about the slides? They are supposed to be serialized now too yes? Do I have to get any new firearm serialized or do I have to make sure the slides and barrels for any pistol I own is serialized? Also if you purchase a 320 and do the FA10…then are you allowed to change the frame and slide? Or no? Just do a new FA10? What’s the point of them now? We are supposed to have a new system in place no? Questions that haven’t been answered.

It's going to depend on the dealer, the ones I've been using at the mill and elsewhere will have no problem as it represents a roster gun. EOPS has already issued an edict on this but some risk averse dealers may decide to operate differently.

It behooves people to just do their own legwork.

This is another reason why I think sig is stupid, they could easily list most SKUs (or just the base model) and basically ride off the "substantially similar" clause in the eops regs. But sig is a bunch of fgts and makes their submissions way too detailed which ends up hurting the consumers.

Any chance you could add a link to the edict I am curious to read it.

Not even worth the effort it takes to dig it up probably in the main 4885 shitpile thread but if you're not a dealer why even bother looking for it? This list shit doesn't apply to you. At all. And the dealer you use is going to be the arbiter and you're not going to convince them if they say no. I've been around enough dealers to know this. Policy decisions are not something they take lightly.

Instead of coming here and getting 10 different answers, why not ask your local dealer? Do you have a favorite dealer?

Toby posted a video about using a NIB P365 FCU to build out a handgun. He's pretty risk-averse and it seems like he's selling them (FCUs).

Can you buy a manual safety version and just deactivate those parts on the FCU? Then buy a non-safety grip module? I only have non-manual safety versions so don't know anything about the manual safety FCU and how much it differs from the regular FCU. The regular FCU is a breeze to work on.

Yes. To go from non-safety to safety, you need to mill out a piece of the FCU with a jig. But to go from safety to non-safety, you just need to remove the safety parts. There are videos online that show you how.
