Single Purpose Container Doctrine

Interesting stuff. When my storage unit got broken into, the responding officers noticed my stockpile of empty firearm cases. They asked me if there were firearms or ammo in the storage unit. I said no and that was it. They didn't search, 4th amendment rights respected. The target of the break in was my motorcycles and I assume they wanted to know if they had to be chasing down stolen firearms.

I never knew about this ruling. Now I will be using guitar cases. [smile] Just another example of how the court ruled incorrectly.

I have a couple of the big Pelican Storm double rifle cases. One is covered in gun related stickers and on purpose the other has no gun stickers but has skiing, music, offroad racing stickers etc. I might make both of them look like there are guitars inside, though I just can't lower myself to using a Fender sticker. [laugh]

You could stick with Yamaha, if you can't bear staring at Fender on your case.

Musicians will think bass, everyone else thinks motorcycle.

Savior makes a variety of mid-priced cases, even stocked at Costco. Their "Tennis" case looks pretty good, and if you plaster it with the right stickers, nobody will want it.

I was down at Old Glory in Mason (across from one of the two(?) non-state owned NH liquor stores) and saw the "guitar" and "fiddle" variants in person:

These (like many Savior products) just scream "Steal me!".

I never have firearms in what would be described as a single use container. Plane pistol case that looks like a lunch box on a strap. A back pack, and a got one of those Peak cases that looks like banjo for a carbine.

Mine was not a thought of this video. More I don’t care to let my neighborhood and visitors know what I have and where.

I would prefer these hard cases as the cop cant get handsy with it to feel what's inside

My main range bag is one of these (actually may be a slightly larger version they don't make any more). It fits a ruger PCC, chest rig, knee pads, spotting scope, mags etc. and looks "normal." I added a lock to the zipper.

This was my carry case for matches and classes.

I use the same set up. My only gripe is that I wish my bag had slightly more structural rigidity. The are moments when it can bend by the stock that show there isn't a guitar in there. Then again, It's only to filter out the gun-phobic, not fool the court.

For the love of everything holy, do NOT put a Fender sticker on there.

Shoot me a message, I have a whole bunch stickers from small record labels that I support that aren't doing any good in my desk drawer.

I bought a girls baseball bat bag for my trunk gun, it held a pump shotgun and extra ammo very well. Used to get my vehicle searched all the time going onto base and the pink bag never got more than a snide comment.
Never even bothered to have a glove with it.
