I have an inherited 20 gauge single shot Iver Johnson shotgun. I think it dates from the 1950s. Is it OK to use a Remington Magnum Turkey load in it, or am I asking for trouble? The gun, which belonged to my wife's grandfather, is in excellent shape and shoots fine with birdshot.

My plan is to use it for wild turkey hunting someday; so I am open to suggestions on the shotshells to use. [?]

Make sure you use the proper length shotshells for the chamber. DON'T use 3" shells in a 2 3/4" chamber. Other than that you should be OK, assuming the gun is in good condition.

Thanks

Thanks for the quick reply. I will avoid 3 inch shells, but glad to hear that magnums should be OK to shoot in the vintage shotgun. :p
