I picked up a Remington 742 in 30-06 a few months back.
Went to the range this morning to complete the sight in process.
Planned to wait 5 minutes between shots as I let the barrel get too hot the last time. First 2 were close to where I wanted but the 3rd shot was a flyer as the forearm split!
Lucky for me I guess that I had it on a foam pad and wasn't holding it.
I was not an expensive rifle so would you just glue it back together yourself, find a gunsmith to do it, or would Remington have this part available (It's a 20 year old rifle).
Thanks,
Bill
