Springfield 850????

Greetings all,

I have a .22 semi that is clearly marked on the barrel as a Springfield 850. I am amazed that in search after search I can find no information on this gun model. Blue book does not list it as far as I have been able to tell.

I talked to a friends at their gun shop and they are scratching their heads as well.

I would be curious what anyone might be able to share with me about this model.

Thanks BillK, I am kinda surprised that didn't come up in all the searches I did. If anyone else has more details it would be greatly appreciated. I am still using several search engines to find out more.

Let's see... $36 dollars of 1962 money in todays economy would be about 82 cents. I'll take a dozen!

Thanks to your finding, BillK, I was further able to find this ad...

So, it appears that the bulk of this design was labeled as Stevens or Savage.

I wonder if this makes the Springfield labeled gun of different value?
