Hello all.

Well I went to the gun store today to pick up a new subcompact carry gun. I use to own a GLOCK 26 back in the day and regretted ever selling it. So today was the day I was gonna go pick up another. I have a Taurus subcompact but I wanted something that has a better track history to back it up. Well the store was all out. So I spotted the Springfield XD, picked it up and it felt nice. The reviews I read on the internet say its a solid gun. So I took it home, have not had a chance to shoot it yet. But I wanted a review of those of you that have one or have shot one a good bit. Its nice to hear what people really think about a gun when they are not being sponsored by the company that makes the pistol.

i have XD service model in 9mm.

excellent trigger

VISIBLE loaded chamber indicator

grip safety

i have about 400 rounds through mine, not one hiccup. it eats FMJ and JHPs w/o prejudice.

I love my XD, though it's a service .40. WAY more comfortable in my hand than any Glock and it does its job without fail. I know someone with a .45 subcompact that would say the same about them.

I have the .40 SC version. Since it's my first handgun, I really enjoy it (pretty much the default opinion for anyones first gun).

It's super easy to strip down and clean. One lever, thats it. I also like the "chambered round" indicator. You can non visually feel for it to tell if it's loaded or not.

I had some FTF issues with mine not too long ago, but sent it back to Springfield and they fixed it at no charge (I'm not even to original owner).

I would also recommend a trigger job. I felt the stock one was too mushy with too much take up.

Love the XD - I have a 4" .45, my GF has a 9mm subcompact. Good trigger, good ergonomics, accurate and reliable. I like the striker status indicator on the back. Very affordable (outside of MA, of course). All in all, two thumbs up for the XD.
