After sitting on my lower for over a year now, I have finally decided on an upper. I am going with a stag 2ht.

In addition to needing a ban compliant version, I want the YHM phantom brake.

This is what I was planning on ordering, since they give the option of different muzzle devices.

695 +25 for the brake. Free shipping.

Assuming they will make it ban compliant, is it a decent deal?

ALSO Try contacting Adam @ ACME ARMAMENT plympton mass 781 585 1151.....Check his dealer page here on NES for phone number. I am going on memory???

I would go with this one....Spike's allows you to make the upper ban compliant upon ordering. You just have to specify the options when you order online.

You can always put a new handguard on after. The 2HT is going to add a lot of weight to your AR. I would opt for something like a DD Omega 7.0 free float. It involves no modification to the host weapon and simply replaces the plastic handguards.

While the Spike's is nice you'd still need to shell out another $235 bucks for the DD rail and another $100 for a BUIS. You could pay a total of $935 for the Spikes and the add-ons, or you could buy the 2HT from AR15sales.com in NH for $654 which includes the Samspon freefloat rail and the ARMS BUIS + $10 to make it MA compliant.

I got my 2HT upper in pre-ban configuration for about that. No problems with it.

Pics of it.

Negative on the 235.00. That is if you want to get the DD rail through spikes. You can find it much cheaper elsewhere. I have seen it for 179.00 recently.

+1 For Pete at Ar15sales (I bought a RRA upper from him). See if he can give you a better price.

Edit:

It seems there is a dealer member of NES who sells post-ban stag uppers too. You might check on his price too:

Check First Defense Firearms in Uxbridge, they had a Stag upper on the shelf a couple of days ago. Not sure of the model or price, but if I recall it looked a lot like the 2HT.

When I did some hardcore shopping around for an upper a while back I ended up buying it from Riflegear. I found that their price was lower than many other places. I'm not sure if that's the case now but it was when I bought mine a while ago as in pre-Obama. After customizing it on their site I think I saved $200-$300 or so even after shipping. I went with the 3H and added upgrades like the YHM smooth carbine forearm and flip up sight gas black and flip up rear sight.

thanks for the help guys. Looks like best bet is getting the AWB version from ARsales, and Ill have someone local pin the phantom brake on.

Here is the link for what I ordered, but it was $595 I think when I bought it. Its the first upper listed. Because it is MA I didn't get the 30 round mag or follower though. Thanks MA!

I think you can do better...It's a nice set-up, but do you really need a free-float? You can get the same utility out of a drop-in for 1/2 the price...As to muzzle brakes, look into the FSC556 by PWS...The set up you listed isn't bad, but there's better for less...While you're shopping, check out Bravo Company. Their uppers are highly regarded as being in spec and value-based. Stag is good for sure, but you can do better for the same, (or even less) money. That leaves more dough for ammo and more dough for gas to get to an NES Members Shoot and pick up these goddamned magazines you won...[smile]

Remsport can build you any configuration in an AR upper.

Ask around the fourm about Remsport and AR uppers built by JDL Sales now part of Remsport.
