I don't normally post about my competitions since I'm down in God's Country and ya'll are stuck in the socialist republic. However, I'll be shooting in the Georgia State Smallbore Silhouette Championships starting this afternoon and running through Sunday.

If you don't know, this is shot with a .22lr bolt gun with scope. All shot in the standing with no support, no jacket, no glove, no anything and shot at 40, 60, 77, and 100 meters, 40 rounds total. Targets are very small steel silhouetts shot in sequential order, one shot per target. A lot more difficult than it sounds.

Good luck in the match.

Silhouette is a lot of fun, one of the clubs I belong to has been holding fun matches this past year and my wife and I have attended a couple of practice sessions and one match. I'm hoping to get more involved in it next year if I can get it into the schedule. (most have conflicted with the high power matches)

Thanks guys! I shoot our local match every month but my 25 year old rifle isn't up to snuff. I'm using a friends 40X that he built that I shot last month. Man, what a difference!

The national champion will be shooting as well.

Whoa there, Johnny Reb. You must have been too busy eatin' grits or runnin' moonshine, or somethin' to notice, but not everybody here lives in Mass.. :D
You gonna' shoot that there competition with Pappy's squirrel rifle? What d'ya mean no support? Thems overalls you boys wear can be cinched up pretty tight. Shootin' barefoot probably gives you a good "feel" for the terrain in the standing position. Does the Range Officer mind when you boys let out a Rebel yell?

Seriously though, good luck! Smallbore competition can be the hardest thing to master.
