New York City has agreed to pay $10,001 to a man after it settled a case. The city refused to issue any permits to him that are needed to purchase firearms.

Good outcome for that guy (and for us - he's a crappy case-law-making plaintiff) but it's a settlement, not an award.

This may open the door to other people litigating that were denied and be very costly to them. so that they'll get the message. At worst for the pro 2A side it's a black eye on anti gun NYC repressing rights.

Should be 10k per day per person delayed/denied taken from the retirement fund of the officers involved in licensing and the mayor.

Worth case, both sides want it to go to SCOTUS. Mark points out 1792 militia act required ownership of firearms by 18 YO's (but fails to mention pistols were included as cav weapons though) and points out that era matters more than late 19th C Jim Crow anti laws.
