Alright, I need an experienced opinion on this. I put a bunch of time into cleaning my Mosin, oiling it, and I've worked the bolt a few hundred times just to smooth it out. It's pretty nice at this point and I *love* it (LOVE how it shoots, too, after 40 rounds). However, there's one part of the receiver where the bolt gets hung up both opening and closing. I got it in my head that I should just file or dremel a SMALL bit of this little corner to *really* smooth things out. Any thoughts on why I should or shouldn't do this?

Here's a couple pics of exactly which corner I'm talking about rounding off.

Does it hang up after firing? I notice, when I dry fire, it is harder to open the bolt, then if I just open and close it normally. I put a light coat of grease in the channel, and it was much easier to cycle the bolt.

Also I don't consider it broken in until 200 rds or so. I would shoot and clean, shoot and clean. It will smooth out on its own.

I woudlnt dremel it... try hitting it with a fine stone first also Polish the lugs where they lock into the reciever

don't remove material or change any angles ... also clean the chamber might be dirty...

The locking mechanism inside the receiver on my old mosin use to do something similar, i found a small buffing wheel that fit inside and i buffed it with buffing compound, making sure to get everywhere lightly. I think it's cosmosline that secrets from the pores of the steel after it shot a couple times post initial cleaning. check your bolt for markings to help find the problem spot and focus on it.
