Was wondering if anyone was familiar with the Taurus 1911 series
I just saw something about this weapon and wanted to know if it was available yet, if it was MA compliant and if anyone had fired one. Great Price for a 1911 style 45. Any input would be great. Thanks.....

there isnt a single Taurus handgun on the roster as far as i know.

Well, I can answer one half of it.

It will never be "MA Compliant". Taurus has no pistols on the EOPS roster and doesn't have any intention of ever adding any to it, for starters.

As far as the non quality of the gun goes... Where's Timber? [laugh] (I think the safety levers on his fell off about 48 times or so)

is it Taurus really that bad? i was looking @ Raging Bull S&W500 here in mass ftf NIB never fired 2.5 barrel. seller asking $650 i think its a very good price. But still im undecided... the price is almost half of Smith&Wesson.

Let's see; I had a model 66. I fired a few boxes of ammo through it and the front sight and the cylinder latch fell off. Taurus fixed it but the timing was never right. Several failures to fire due to improper timing.
Then I tried a PT-22. The firing pin broke after one magazine full. I had it fixed and then the magazine floor plate flew off and sent the spring into the stratosphere. I bought a new magazine and now the gun jams after every shot.
I threw the PT-22 away and traded the 66. It was worth $75.00!
There is not one police department, security agency or special operator that I know of that would take one for free.
They are dangerous junk, in my opinion.

Colt, Springfield Armory, S&W. All excellent 1911's. The Springfield Armory models offer a lot of pistol for the money.

I bought a PT1911 earlier this year. Haven't had a single issue with it. Granted I have only put a couple hundred rounds through it but I've been happy with it. I've seen just as many horror stories about them as I have good stories. I've been lucky so far. If I actually carried on a daily basis, I'd maybe got with a more expensive gun but since I don't...the PT1911 works for me. However as was stated above, they are not Mass compliant.

Sounds like you now have a mission: Take it out and run a few hundred more rounds through it and let us know how it does! I really would like to believe in the gun, I liked it a lot in the store.

I have heard the PT1911 is a great gun for the money. Key here is for the money. For half the money it is half the quality, so it is a great gun to buy, if you plan on smithing through the whole thing, replacing all of the parts, and doing alot of custom fitting.

i have close to 5000 rounds through my pt1911. I use it for club level plate shooting. I have read all the the Taurus bashing and my gun has none of the problems that people are complaining about. It shoots great, cycles reliably with the light 230 gr lead loads i load for plate shooting. slide to frame fit is as good as my Smith & Wesson 1911pd. Yes there are some rough edges inside the frame and slide but my gun functions flawlessly.
it only cost half what my Smith did and a third of what i paid for my Kimber.
