The bird flu cometh

The most alarming thing about the MSNBC page is that cases are starting to show up in Britain. There is so much travel between Britain and the US that sooner or later it is going to make it's way here. The nitwits who run our govt. will probably not do anything about this until it is too late - the illegal immigration problem and the mess that Katrina turned into is good proof of this.

Does anybody know of any good websites or books that can be used to to get real information on how to prepare for something like this? The wife will think I am crazy - but stocking up on a few supplies that will hard or impossible to get once this breaks out doesn't sound like a bad idea.

Has anyone gone about trying to get a prescription for antiviral drugs, such as Tamiflu, to store in case of a pandemic outbreak? If human->human transmission were observed, it would probably quickly be difficult to get.

I doubt any reputable Dr. would give you a script, however that doesn't stop you from buying it online!

Just make sure the stuff purchased on line isnt fake from China. Dateline did a spot on this a couple of weeks ago. Some of the fake drugs were made out of road paint.

Worse yet, theres some lingering evidence out there that Tamiflu,
etc, in the opinion of some, is kind of like pissing into the wind WRT
bird flu.

Isolation is the best bet we have, IMO... so that way the shit will
just burn itself out. In the old days pandemics, etc, were a lot
worse because people pooped and pissed in the street and everyone
thought that the sick guy next door was "just sick" and didn't know
he was carrying a bunch of germs/viruses.
