The Miltia from "Red Dawn at Lexington"

Roger that. I`d like to attend. I`d like to bring my Privates. If only I could get the Armorer to let them take their weapons. It`s probably better training than they get all year.

Ahem. Please leave your privates in your shorts. [wink] OK, seriously now... If we have some warning, we might be able to scare up some loaner rifles. They'd probably be .22's, but the mechanics are the same.

Considering that I'm also an Army Guard NCO with the 86th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Mountain) (I'm in the Support Battalion, and am moving around, but will soon be supporting 3/172 Infantry), I have a vested interest in the troops. (I never know when I might have to rely on THEIR ability.)

I have some loaner rifles that will be available, 10/22 Rugers that have been altered to add M16A1 type sights and make them more shooter friendly. We call them LTR's (Liberty Training Rifles), because they make an awesome substitute for the AR-15/M16/M4 series rifle as well as the M1/M1A/M14 series rifle. I also have a few other .22's and some centerfire stuff that can be made available to use.

Once we get full approval on Harvard, it will be posted. Watch for it to be named "Concord/Lexington, MA (Harvard)". A play on the location to get folks fired up on Patriot's Day.

I`m going to bring this event up at our next pre-drill/training meeting. I will put out the info to the Joes and see if there`s any interest. Any info you guys can send me that I could put out to the Joes would be helpful. My unit is in Gardner but most of my Joes live in western Mass.

OK, it's 19/20 April, at Harvard Gun Club. 20 and under are free. Current serving military (including Guards/Reserves) are free.

Details about the range can be fielded by crak and Dwarven1.

Details about the program can be fielded by either of them or me.

You'll need to have 500 rounds of ammo per person. We usually shoot around 400, sometimes as low as 375, sometimes as high as 450. Depends on the facility and everybody's ability.

Ok, thanks Sergeant.

Red Dawn at Lexington

I've got one word:

A Terrific Read!

Well, three. Seriously, this is one great book and goes into great and interesting detail about the beginning of the Revolutionary War from the battles at Lexington and Concord and the running fight back to Boston to an in-depth analysis of the Battle of Bunker, oops, Breed's Hill and how that transpired. I am now at the part where Washington took command and is beginning to drive the British out of Boston.

Find a copy and read it, you won't be disappointed.
