As often happens, a single spare part for a firearm attracts complimentary parts until a new gun is born.

I have a very nice, pre-ban SEI M14 set up in the traditional configuration with wood stock etc.

I'm now gathering the parts to build a modern representation of the last of the wood and steel warriors.

So far, in my possession...

I have an LRB barreled action on order but it may be up to 6 months before I have it. In this climate, I thought that may be too late so I have on the way a Fulton receiver and an 18.5" medium weight, chrome lined, fluted barrel. I'll assemble and lap in the bolt to head space. I'm not sure what butt stock I'll use yet and I'm playing around with the pistol grips. The muzzle devise is up in the air as well and I have a few small bits to gather.

In the mean time I may mill some of the rail off the Troy chassis... maybe...

Nice! I love M14's. [thumbsup]

I put a med weight 18.5" Criterion (LRB) barrel in my EBR build. It is super accurate with the 168 Fed Gold Match ammo, and even shoots well with various surplus 7.62, but it is heavy. I have thought about removing some of the rails on my Sage, but then I remember that I can't really afford to shoot right now anyways. [sad]

Looking forward to seeing it built!
