If you ever find yourself eying a Sig P250, do yourself a favor and do not buy it. This gun isn't worth it's weight in dead mice, and I'd rather have bamboo inserted under my fingernails than fire one.

For starters, like all Sigs, the finish on the barrel just falls off. After one box of ammo, this gun looks heavily used.

The worst part about this gun is definitely the fact that it throws brass in the shooters face. Hard. The first time I got hit with a brass casing I thought I had been hit by a ricochet. At least one casing from every mag would be thrown right into my face hard enough to leave a mark. Developed a nasty habit of cringing every time I pulled the trigger.

Accuracy is another huge problem. It throws rounds every which way with no real pattern I could tell. One round would fly high left, then the next one would go right. Everyone who shot this gun noticed the same thing.

I did not feel safe carrying this gun... I'd go so far as to say carrying this steaming piece of shit is actually irresponsible, because if you're ever in an Aurora type situation, you'd be more likely to HELP the shooter than stop him.

I will never consider purchasing a Sig. I sold this abomination and bought a Caracal C.

Yeah, but how do you really feel about it?

I wouldn't sell it for $50 to one of those buy-back programs because I'd feel guilty about ripping them off.

If I was unarmed and someone pulled a gun on me, I would be relieved to see it was a Sig P250.

We should arm criminals with this gun, because then the only people they can hurt is themselves.

[rofl]

I don't like you TMPW but that made me laugh. I have read mixed reviews on the P250. I guess you get what you pay for with Sig. I think the SP2022 would have been a better choice.

Well that review was also back from 2007, I'm sure the QC has gone into the toilet on this model since then. I really wanted one of the checkered camo patterns but haven't been able to find one legal in mass. Too bad TMPW, I would have even traded one of my nagants for you p250. I like hot brass to the face!!

I am not familiar with the P250 other than reading the articles, however, G&A reviews of major, current production firearms will always conclude that the advertiser is offering a quality product.

I have one in .45 with all sizes. You can shoot it next time I actually make it to a range to see for your self.

I think the Caracal is along the lines of like a high point. The guys at moss pawn in georgia talk about them on the iraqveteran8888 youtube channel. Here is the youtube clip of them with just this gun!

The Caracal may not be mainstream, but it isn't on the same level as a High Point. Some people are even saying that the Caracal is better than the Glock, for $100 less.

Wish I had read this Saturday morning before buying one in .40 I immediately left for the cape to go surfing and have yet to fire it. I'm heavily reconsidering my purchase now. Does anyone else own one that has anything good to say about one?

I have had a 250 for a few years, and have not had any of these issues. Accuracy is spot on, it just took me learning how to manipulate a double action trigger properly. When I did that, my groups got really small. The only jams or failures are related to 1 magazine. Brass ejects fine.

I think you have a lemon.

I have no problems with mine and am happy with it. But that is the more recent version of it. The original p250 sucked and was redesigned in 2010.

The P250 is a POS, as far as I'm concerned it's not doing Sig's reputation any favors. It always has been, always will be. Un-assisted DAO? are they serious? [laugh] It starts from there and goes downill.

Not sure if serious. The Caracal is more along the lines of a Glock or an XD. Comparing it to a trash-point is insulting.

I don't know Mike, Terraformer's review has given me pause. I wrote the 250 off a long time ago until I read his post in another thread.

I'm not a fan of DAO. Otherwise I would be tempted.

I wish Sig would take this design and turn it into a striker-fired pistol instead of a DAO hammer. I wouldn't complain about a glock-like trigger safety on such a setup either.

ETA: Mike: "Just buy a glock then!" Doug: "Done. But they're ugly dammit!"

I would consider either returning it, or selling it with "New never fired!" as the selling point. There are better guns that can be bought for the same price.

Mine was a generation 2 with the older style slide release (nipple, not hole... giggidy) and every shot would lock the slide open. Got the upgraded slide release, and that problem was solved. However, no other issues were.

That's like saying you shot a Sigma and now think all things S&W are terrible....

Try a p226 or p2022

sent it....from the Evo

My first gun was a Sigma. Aside from the absurd trigger pull, it was a great gun. The P250 was awful in every way. Look, feel, accuracy, design... Just an all around awful gun. While a Sig P226 might be one hell of a gun, I will never buy one because of the P250. Any company that lets that kind of product out the door needs to be fined, not supported.

TMPW, I looked up the Caracal C? Its doesnt seem like a very mainstream brand. Will you be able to get easily available parts for it if something breaks?

If something breaks, I'm sure the manufacturer would cover it under warranty. The only things I'd buy for it is a holster (fits in a Glock 19 leather holster), and spare mags ($35 each).

The MA trigger sucks bad. It's a 12 lb trigger but if you can get past that, the thing is fine. I am working on getting the 6 lb trigger spring that sig believes is illegal to sell me (their words, not mine...) and I think that will clear the bulk of my issues. I don't care about SRT (which is impossible in this gun) and am happy with a revolver like trigger in a SA package. But remember, every glock in MA is a free state Glock with 6 lb trigger pulls. The free state P250 (I have tried it in epping) is far superior to the MA version. I suspect that will sour people but that's not Sig's fault. But as far as a gun is concerned, it's a great design and it really feels like a sig otherwise unlike the sig pro. I wasn't always a fan of this gun but it has improved and I have given it a chance to grow on me. But I really want to find the 6 lb trigger spring.

Ouch, that 12lb trigger pull for the MA version is a nightmare. I have been very happy with mine. I like the feel, it always goes bang, the bullet goes where I point it, and as long as I dont use mag #3 it has never jammed, easy to clean. I havent carried it for a couple years now, as I have moved on to other guns, but it will remain in the safe and probably go unused. That being said I wouldnt get rid of it, because I like it and it goes bang.

The ergonomics of the 250 are nice, it's feels good in your hand, other than that I don't like it other people might. I think it was Sigs way to introduce a sub $500 gun to the market for people who didnt/ couldnt pay for their other models.

Interesting. I didn't know about the trigger spring. 6lb DAO should be nice, especially if it's smooth. I'd love to shoot it if and when you get the trigger spring upgraded.

You're just figuring this out? The P250 has been known to be an unmitigated failure since not long after it came out, which is years ago.

Picked up the Caracal I bought off Buds. Wont get to shoot it until Friday, but damn this gun is awesome. It's the most comfortable gun I've ever held, a natural pointer, the trigger is the smoothest I've ever pulled, and the quick sights are unbelievable.

If this gun shoots as well as it does... well, everything else, then I think I just found my life partner.

well, my wife and I each carry P250 9mm sub compacts. Generation 2's. We have a fullsize on the nightstand with a light/laser. We have probably 3-4000 rounds thru these pistols with zero hiccups. That's 0. Many different brands of ammo even some Russian steel casing which my XDm won't tolerate. They shoot to where you point them and the brass will definately hit the shooter to your right in the face at times but never yourself. The trigger pull is long, but smooth, just like a DA revolver. With the reliability to always go bang and no safeties to worry about I have complete confidence in them and no problem trusting our lives to them. Sorry you got a bad one.
