I've got some $$ to burn and want a .308 Rifle for Hunting (Boar) + 100-300 yard shooting with decent mag capacity. These 2 guns are similar in price. Does anyone have any recommendations about these 2 guns specifically?

Please don't tell me to save my $$ and buy something else. I don't know much about either manufacturer.

Thanks.

For what you're trying to do with it, any AR-10 variation will do fine. If piston is what you want, these are both great choices.

Is piston really what you want, though? Going DI will get you a more accurate rifle for less money, from someone like Larue or GAP.

I think the HK uses a proprietary buffer system, which to me, is a bit of a turn off. I'm sure it functions flawlessly, but Good luck getting a replacement if you need it.

Heck, i would be tempted to look into a DPMS ar-15 based gun...perhaps something of this nature? http://www.dpmsinc.com/LR-65_ep_122-1.html

would sure be alot lighter to lug around and im sure would be plenty for hog. Sure not telling you how to spend your money, you choose what you want and that is that (i agree!) but that is just an alternative thought from my mind set [grin]

My LWRC M6 is no joke. Combat grade piston gun with sub-moa accuracy, can take a beating beyond belief and come back for more. The SCAR only beat it by a few FTFs for the army contract, and when I mean few I'm talking 5 or 6. The m4 got beat by both by over 800 ftfs. per 10k rounds. Results speak for themselves, they don't f*** around building guns, and they aren't gimmicky. Same goes for HK. You've heard/seen what the 416 can do.

You can't go wrong with either. Neither of them make bad guns. I don't believe that they are capable of making bad guns. Buy with confidence.
