What is a good place to go shoot trap for cheap i know Minuteman's sportsman's club is great but they are wicked pricey.

How do you define "Cheap"?

At most clubs in the area, a round of Trap for a non-member runs about $3.50 - $4.00

A box of shells is about $6.50 at most clubs, less if you can buy them on sale at Dicks or Wallyworld

So you're looking at about $10 / round all told......

yeah but what club can you go to that you don't HAVE to be a member at to shoot trap.

You can shoot as much trap as you want without being a member at Wallum Lake Rod & Gun club in RI. but that is not close to where you are.

Most clubs are open to the public for trap and skeet. If you're a member of GOAL (if not, join!) , there is a listing at the back of the Message, alphabetically by location, of where to shoot.

If you're local to us, Southborough Rod & Gun Club will be happy to have you visit: www.srgclub.com If you're not, look at the listing, and check out the club's websites to see if trap is open and when. FYI: call first this time of year....not all clubs are "all weather"! [smile]

so if i pay 30 bucks for a year at goal i can go to minuteman's sportsmen s club and shoot trap as if i am a member because they have that club as an affiliate?

That's up to the club.

Joining GOAL is just a good idea for any Mass shooter.

I can't speak to the policies of other clubs, but I visited a few over the summer and, notwithstanding minor details, all are about the same in the way they operate.

If you come to Southborough R&G Club, a Guest round will cost $3.50; if you buy shells, that's 6.50 more = $10/ round.

A member would pay $1 less per round.

AFAIK, all clubs will charge everyone to shoot, as each round uses up birds.

If you have questiosns about a specific club, the only place to get that info is from the Club, either by website or phone.

Stuff I know of open to the public:
  • Mass Rifle, Wednesdays from 6pm. Due to environmental issues it's $10/round, but the (non-toxic) ammo is supplied.
  • Westford Sportsmen's, Sundays from 1pm. $3/round.
  • Ipswich F&G: Thursday 6pm and Sundays at noon (or is it 1?). $4/round. Some ammo restrictions (#8 under 1200fps, lead OK), but they'll sell you compatible stuff if you need it.

MRA in Woburn shoots Trap on Wed nights all year and is open to members and non members. $10.00 per round which includes 1 box of steel shot.
They also shoot 5 stand on Sunday mornings, also $10.00 per round with 1 box of steel shot.
