Anyone run those new Unity FAST 2.26 in high mounts for your red dots? How do you like the chin weld vs a more traditional lower 1/3 cheek weld when looking through your optic? Also are those little built in irons really even effective to anything past 25 yards at all? What is it, a 2.5 inch sight radius?

Can't really use that on an SBA5 brace though or else the ATF will break down my door right? It's nice not having to run separate backup irons so my hand can go a bit further up on the support rail but holy smokes the built in irons are as bad as a J-frame.

Buy your dog a IIIA vest and then tell the ATF there’s no regulation against using your cheek to support a brace 😆

I put 1.7” mount on my gun, and all the cool kids started doing 1.93”, cuz NODS and kits.

I’m still saving my pennies for Nods, and now the cool kids are doing 2.26”? Pretty soon y’all gonna hip fire that thang looking through your optic.

I bought knock offs on Amazon.
I'm slowly converting over to them.
My neck feels so much better with them.

If you have T2 style optics, check out spuhr 's new mount. It's even more compact.
I think the site has a typo though

Spuhr RDF-20291K: Aimpoint, T-2 Magnifier Mount Kit, H74mm/2.91" PIC

If I didn't have an obsession with big window red dots (30mm) I'd snag that mount

Edit 2.91 isn't a typo. Spuhr's actual site has more options for height. I just am unaware of it remains flip to center

That's for people who have the gubmint pay for their own kit. Holeephuc.

These Chinese made 'JUST AS GUD' Unity mounts are five bucks instead of $150 lol.

Yea,$400+ for a mount is nuts I agree. Justifying that for some machined aluminum.
But Im a fan of flip to center and it not being a whole other bracket using rail space like the unity does.
Which is why I tried unity knock off before investing.
But it's Spuhr. It's near bomb proof.
Theres really only 2 scope mounts I'd want. But I'm not rolling in money. And Spuhr is one of them

Haven't done the temu/Alibaba thing yet. Which is why I went to the Amazon route.
Yeah I bought one of those $30 Amazon ones too. Didn't care for the fake counterfeit UNITY laser etching on it anyway. 6061 aluminum shouldn't cost $400+.

I use them with aimpoint T2s. Got rid of the front post in it and use a fixed front on the rail. Can get a view of the irons with magnifier up as long as it doesn’t have turrets like eotech.

2.26 with the Unity riser has been popular for years now. 2.26 was a thing way before 1.7 gained popularity. For professional users, 2.26 is definitely more common than 1.93 or 1.7 and has been for a while. But those are very niche users who can actually take advantage of the milliseconds gained with the setup at very close ranges during CQB/raids.

Definitely not for me though.

Yes I run a T1 on a 2.26 Unity Mount. It's a chin weld at best and forces me to stand more upright than I'd like. Shooting prone is the worst with it. I don't feel like the I have the best control of the rifle with such a high mount.

On the other hand, the extra clearance it provides for nods is nice. Also, the upright stance is more natural and comfortable if I'm just sitting behind the gun and scanning. Lastly, it allows me to run a FTC Omni mount for a magnifier. It's nice not having a flip to side where it feels more awkward.

Ultimately, I wouldn't run a 2.26" on anything not meant for nods. Lower 1/3rd to 1.70" seems to be my personal preference.

You can use them anytime in reality but unless you shoot with NV they’re not needed to be that tall.

I find a 1.7” mount is perfect for every day shooting while allowing you to keep a slight heads up for more comfort.

I like the Unity and find it more comfortable. But do need a cheek riser buttstock. There are minimalist stocks with a thin riser that works well. I also like the flip to center magnifier mount. For prone, just switch to an LPVO rifle with medium height rings.

This is a silly new fashion.

Looks like it's catching on.

Do I need a riser?

No NODS.

IMO, the shorter the weapon, the more it is designed for CQB. The higher the mount, with or without NOD’s, helps aid in heads up targeting on the move. They’re not designed for prone, old school style defensive shooting where a good low cheek weld comes into play for more accurate longer distances.

The higher mounts, even if only for a RDS are very effective when moving and shooting, with no or minimal weld and the stock/brace is simply pulled tightly into your chest allowing rapid U/D/L/R movements for clearing, while keeping your head and eyes up focusing on your surroundings for close targeting. This works well with or without a PC.
