Update per HK customer service:

Per HK customer service it is designed to have two stages. The first is the striker safety resetting and the second is the trigger coming to the reset point

Granted they said they are suppossed to be on top of one another which they are but its designed to do that. They have not answered follow up questions regarding improving it via either break in or aftermarket parts.

So excited today to test out the new VP9 I picked up this week and everything was going great. I was hitting my plates consistently things felt great for about 150 rounds then I went to fire the next round and I pull the trigger and nothing happened. My buddy goes "Uh oh!" and I'm thinking WTF, so I take my finger off the trigger, look and see nothing visibly wrong take aim and fire, and things went back to normal till I ran out of ammo (only 20-30 more rounds which went fine).

So I like to ride the reset when I shoot so I thought maybe I didn't wait for it...

After cleaning the pistol I tried some investigative dry fire and noticed that the reset has TWO STAGES! So slowly letting the trigger out will yield two clicks (Audible and physically detectable) and is only reset on the second click. It is tough to make it happen with one finger but it did happen at the range today, with a thumb for support I can make it happen every time.

Anyone else have this issue I see some out there, according to google search. The link below is not my video but a video of the same thing. BTW mine is brand new no mods.

Did you examine the dud round to see if primer was indeed struck?

never had such 2 stage issue w my VP9. That being said i almost never use resets in general.

Personally i say just keep shooting it.....my trigger smoothed out after ~300 rds

didn't check the round as I initially thought I short stroked it. Just fully released and pulled again. I have been googling for an hour or so now and some are saying HK is replacing an out of spec trigger bar.

gonna call HK on Monday but this was a bummer to say the least, I really like it.

What type of ammo were u firing?

likelihood of a naughty primer is higher than a naughty VP9.

we hear a fair # of vp9 "issues" that seem to dwindle away once the gun gets some exercise. I can with certainty my tirgerr feels 50x better than when it was NIB and all i have done is shot it.

The pistol was not reset there was no movement of any parts other than the trigger parts. I shot 50 Amer. eagle, 50 blazer brass, 50 sig prepormance ammo before moving on to the Hornady Critical Duty just to test the self defence ammo before going home. It was while using the hornady when it happened.

no experience with an H&K, but a Kel-Tec P3AT (P380) Is the same way. You have to let the trigger return all the way forward after each shot otherwise your trigger pull is releasing the hammer from a half-cock or a safety position on the sear, which results in misfires.

Trigger does not need to go all the way out to reset just past the second "click/stage"

I have about 300 rounds and a lot of dry firing on my VP 9 and have encountered only one click on reset.

Have you tried to do it really slow? I realize that would not be considered a real life scenario but it should work the same regardless of speed. Use your thumb to give your trigger finger support and let the trigger out slow.

Just tried it only one click.

Just tried it only one click.

Tried it again after reading your OP. There is a snag or hesitation in the trigger before you put pressure on the sear (H&K calls the sear a "catch") and fire the pistol (I believe this is the firing pin safety). This might qualify as a second "click" but I encounter it only on the first shot. On subsequent shots I release the trigger only far enough for the disconnector to reset and get only one click.

If I release the trigger completely I do get a hesitation or snag that could be interpreted as a second click.

Yea its a false reset in the trigger bar. They had these problems come up with both the hk45 and hk45c. How has your customer service experience been so far? I only ask because my hk45t had the same issue. I called HK and they emailed me a shipping label 5 minutes after i got off the phone with them. My pistol shipped out monday and i had it back 2 days later. Just want to see if you have the same positive experience.

what happened to this vp9, it go back for service? did hk customer service ever end up responding to the rest of your questions? i read this over a couple of times and didn't see it really resolved. hopefully all is well with the gun. i've never shot one but sure fondled a fair amount of them and like it a lot. it's going to be the first pick up when i get back to work. so let us know, please, how this is ending.

Sorry guys been busy... no response on other questions... every VP9 Ive checked is the same way. Not sure if normal but based on original response I got from CS it makes sense.
