I like the "vaguely-worded" part. Just like with MA gun laws, the vagueness leaves things open to whatever interpretation the local despots want to use.A new decree by Venezuela's government could make its citizens work on farms to tackle the country's severe food shortages.
In a vaguely-worded decree, Venezuelan officials indicated that public and private sector employees could be forced to work in the country's fields for at least 60-day periods, which may be extended "if circumstances merit."
It may become cost effective to use the lower denominations at toilet paper.
And a good thing you did. We are seeing a real-world example of what can happen to a developed country. They are having a genuine mid-level SHTF situation: food, water and power shortages. Astronomical %500 inflation (paper money is becoming worthless). The .gov has basically declared martial law.
Anyone that considers themselves a prepper should be watching what happens in Venezuela very carefully. What's happening there is a prime example of what we should be prepping for. And we need to watch what the [STRIKE= ]subjects[/STRIKE] people do and learn what works and what doesn't.
Venezuelan police crushed and chopped up nearly 2,000 shotguns and pistols in a Caracas city square on Wednesday, as the new interior minister relaunched a long-stalled gun control campaign in one of the world's most crime-ridden countries.
Interior Minister Nestor Reverol said the event marked the renewal of efforts to disarm Venezuelans, through a combination of seizures and a voluntary program
hopefully the people will be able to import a lot of the Brazilian homemade stuff.Just....wow. It's like I'm reading about 1943 Nazi Germany, but this is 2016, the country isn't even at war and used to be a prosperous country.

The linked article says they made prepping illegal and "detained food hoarders". Wow.
We have a decent sized garden 30' x 30' but I need to put aside some good seeds. The bigger concern is if people are that hungry we'd need to set-up a 24/7 armed watch over the garden.
I wonder why isis hasn't been playing in Venezuela?
The problem is it's a lawless country, where the police have gone totally corrupt because they are starving due to runaway inflation. The bad guys, and this now includes a lot of police, will always have guns. The sheep will be eaten. What comes after the guns are gone? Are the sheep in the hole so beaten down that they are unable to fight back against this or is the propaganda and brain washing so effective that they don't want to?
Yep it won't be long before you read canibalism has hit that socialist utopia.
Took longer than I thought but they are eating each other in the prisons now....

And America dumped 40,000 gallons of milk to keep prices up...

We have a real SHTF situation going on that country. From a prepper / survivalist standpoint, has anyone heard stories from down there about what works or what doesn't work that we could learn from?
