Hey Y'all,

Someone asked me for photos of my Warren night sights in the Gallery sub-forum... and thought I might as well post them here too in case it could help anyone out [grin]

I use Warren Tactical night sights (3-dot, green front, yellow rear) on most of my carry guns and love them. There is no white ring around the rear dots... only the front dot. So in daylight, the front dot really stands out and the rear dots fade into the background (but are still visible).

At night, the yellow rear/green front combo is very nice as it makes visual confirmation instant that you do, in fact, have the correct sight alignment (as opposed to green front AND rear... where you may need an extra second to make sure the front green dot is in fact in the middle of the rear green dots).

Anyway... here are some photos [grin]

Hanwei, thanks for posting. I was thinking about going to to a plain warren tactical rear with a dawson fiber front on my M&P9L. These pics now make me have to think more [wink].

Well... for IDPA I run the Warren Sevigny Competition sights on my G34... Plain rear and fiber optic front. That's definitely my preferred setup for running around shooting things [smile] That's not to say I didn't like the Dawson F/O front sight... that was nice too... but I actually like the Warren Sevigny F/O front just a tad more. It's thinner (more light on both sides of the sight) and the fiber optic is a bit smaller (think 2MOA red dot instead of a 4MOA red dot [smile])

I'm assuming your 9L is for IDPA? (I haven't seen you shoot a semi-auto in IDPA in so long... I don't even remember what you shoot when you're not shooting a wheel gun [wink])

Yeah the 9L is for IDPA/UPSA/Steel. Before I went SSR I was shooting a full size M&P9 in SSP. I wanted to shoot the same gun in both IDPA & USPSA this year. The 686 is great for SSR but but not ideal for USPSA revolver division. I thought about getting a 625 or single stack 9mm or .40 but I found a 9L and the rest is history.

I've just switched to Warren Sevigny Competition black on black sights. So far, I like it better than the large fiber-optic sights that came factory on the M&P Pro.

-Did you install them yourself? It's my understanding that the MGW tool doesn't work with the 9L/9Pro?

-I was thinking of getting a narrow .100" wide dawson fiber. I've found the fiber of my 686SSR really helps me with front sight focus. I've got a bad habit of target focus [thinking].

1. Yes. I used a freezer, a vice, a bunch of punches, fine sandpaper, a screwdriver, and a hammer. I still have brass marks (and a little divot or two from a steel punch) on the right of my sights, but I can't see any of it when shooting, and don't care about how it looks in a presentation box. My understanding is that the tool doesn't work. A gunsmith could do it without marring the sights at all, but I didn't get tools to not use them!

2. The really thin fibers might be a good option. With the factory model, I find my eye jumping back and forth from the front sight to the fiber.
