Well I finally broke down and decided to clean the Good Old Mark III. I heard all the horror stories I watched all the vids and decided to give it a go. Well I got it all apart and cleaned. It was not even that dirty after probably 1000 - 1500 rounds. Went to put it back together it was a little bit of a pain but got it done. Everything was very tight so I figured I would take it apart again and see if I could get it together as quickly as they do in the video. Well guess what. I stuck the bolt retention pin in but pushed it up into the hammer. And somehow something is holding the pin in and I can't get the mainspring housing out. And it gets worse. I see a little pin that I figure I can push out to get the housing into 2 pieces. OOPS, some little spring shows itself. I try putting the pin back in while holding the spring in with a punch. Trap the spring and push it through the hole.
I am pretty sure I need a gunsmith and a spring. Any advice in the Metro-west area or should I bring it up to Fourseasons?
Thanks
