My son's friend came over today and brought a rifle to shoot which was a gift from his late grandfather. Gramps customized the rifle with a gold Mass State Quarter, year 2000, and a brass nameplate. Unfortunately he has no magazines for it. (Or he does have a mag but it's broken ... I didn't get a look at the mag).

Does anyone recognized this rifle? There's no name on it. The markings on the barrel read:

IMC2
1977
Z-86xx

The receiver also bears the Z-number, which I take to be the serial number. The barrel is allso marked at the end of the forend thus:

2
2

I'd like to help the hid find a magazine or two, but I'm stumped on the ID of this piece.

and the magazine, I think you may do better on price if you look around

Yeah. A little googling based on jpattersonnh's information let me right to that page. And you know, I was wondering what that crazy rear sight was all about.

I'll ask around about mags. Might find something knocking around, in my many travels. I'll get the mags he has and see if they can be fixed. He didn't bring them today, buit he says one has a detached spring and the other just doesn't feed.

Thanks, mac!

I've got 2 and they are great rifles. Magazines can be found cheaper if you look hard. Sometimes they pop up on Gunbroker.

You can scope them if the machining base is wide enough. Here is one of mine with a cheap BSA air rifle scope from Wal Mart on it.
