Picked up a Kimber solo carry.... For a steal an old tv and 150 bucks. Can't argue the price. But holy hell is it garbage. I shot one mag every round didn't feed with the recommended ammo. Recoil was intense especially compared to my kahr cm9. Just a total piece of junk although the trigger is nice lol

As the old saying goes, full retail on a Kimber is just 25% of the price you'll pay in ammo and shipping back and forth to the factory in order to get it to run right.

Guess I got lucky with mine. 0 malfunctions with any ammo, including 115 grain, and impromptu range trip after a year and a half pocket carry with no tlc. 200 to 400 rounds through it.

Wow man I'm impressed I couldn't get through 8 rounds. I really wanted to get rid of the tv and I can easily trade the Kimber so not a total loss but I found the kahr to be a much better gun

I dint usually offer, but if you need to throw it away I will be happy to dispose of it for you.

Kimber's are junk!? Or is it just that model?
They've earned the reputation of being very expensive....fantastic looking....and run like shit. Kind of like the Harley's of the 1980s.

I can't recall ever seeing anyone at my clubs steel shoots ever running a Kimber. That tells alot.

From what I've heard about those things someone would have to pay me to own one, lol.

At least with the 1911s a good 1911 plumber can make it suck less... no such chance with the Solo.

They have the reputation they have for a reason.

I would disagree with this. I have a Kimber Ultra Carry II that eats everything I feed it. Not issues so far with well over a couple thousand rounds. She's my main carry gun as well. As with anything every manufacturers put out lemons from time to time. Some lines are more prone then others.

Sometimes manufacturers make a model thats crap most of the time and every now and then make one that works. Case in point....para warthog .....smith sd9ve.....et Al.

The op has a solo not an ultra carry!

See below.....apparently the solo was so bad Kimber even admitted it f***ing sucked and stopped making it in 2017. Put it this way....why would you buy a gun that states clearly in the owners manual and on the manufacturers website that it will only work properly with specific ammo? Think about that for a minute! Every other manufacturer can design a carry gun that will feed and cycle pretty much anything.....and they could do that like a hundred f***ing years ago....but Kimber makes a modern one that only cycles certain bullet weights? Kimber is a hard pass for me.

Kimber 1911's are actually a very high quality firearm. Ive owned 2 procarries with zero malfunctions.

The bad rep came when they switched their 1911 designs to external extractors. That design rendered so many complaints, returns, and owner frustration, that they took them all back, eliminated the design, and went back to internal extractors = which run top notch.

Now, I cannot speak for the solo or other models, but my experience with Kimber 1911s, and other owners I know, have been great.

So I used the recommended ammo which is the last I felt was a kick in the nuts.

On a side note a Glock 19 sized one would be sexy as f°°°

Seriously I paid 150 and a tv I would've given away to get my wife to stop bugging me about. And yeah... I should've sents the extra 200 on a kahr lol
