What are a few features worth (to you)?

So as some of you may know I've been looking at getting a 1911.

I *think* I've determined to get a Smith & Wesson E-series. The "base" model 108482 comes with stainless steel frame, polished slide, white-dot sites, NO ambi safety, and no accessory rail.

The "TA" model is also all-stainless, but the slide isn't polished (it matches the dull finish of the frame). It comes with night sights, ambi safety, and accessory rail on the front of the frame.

How much would *you* consider the TA's extra features are worth?

To get a ambi fitted will be around $75-100, safety with labor. . White dot sights suck, night sights are meh, both are really person preference though, Is it worth the bump in cost, I don't think so

But if you want a rail, then you really have no choice

I'm a righty, and don't believe I have a want/need for the ambi safety. Doubtful I'll carry this gun at night, and if I do I can always add night sights. I have a rail on my M&P9c, but have never really given consideration of adding a light or laser. For me, if anything, it would be a laser. I'm of the mind that I do NOT want a flashlight on my gun. If I hear a bump in the night, I don't want to sweep the room shining the flashlight on my dog or teenager, as to do so will also mean I'm pointing a gun at them. List price is $400 difference. Street price seems to be around $300 difference, but I'm still waiting to hear from the LGS with pricing.

If you don't need the ambi I would forgo it entirely. Ambis on 1911s just plain suck. It's also another thing that S&W probably won't fit properly on the gun. (At least the one on my dad's wasn't fit right, I had to have Lou @ BEC take it apart and refit it correctly. )

As far as the sights go, I would just get the base model, and if you desire something different, then get them changed out. You'll still be ahead money wise.

If you can find the base model, I would buy it.... those seem to be harder to come by...
