the magnum research version of 10/22 is a great rifle. it has all the advantages and parts compatilibity of the 10/22 but instead of a crappy pot metal receiver and heavy barrel the MR version comes with graphite barrel, gorgeous machined aluminum receiver, hogue stock etc.

by the time one puts upgrades into a stock 10/22 it can easily get way more expensive than a custom 10/22 such as the magnum research or a tactical solutions rifle, and you're still stuck with the crappy ruger receiver.
this is also 4.25 lbs. with a small red dot it is crazy lightweight. my wife digs it as well. great all around fun rifle. the 22 magnum version is apparently a disaster. they developed some venting system to keep it as a blowback design. i am told no bueno. the 22LR version is a straight up 10/22 and runs fine.
