Not to disreguard your answer but i have heard "sks" a million times, and where i live the SKSs are the same price as the AKM rifles.

Yes, and the SKS/AKM is the cheapest autoloader.

You CAN get an SKS for about $400 still. A good AKM will run out at least $600.

Where have I been?!
Last time i checked you could get a used sks on the internet for around $250, my gun shop sells SKSs for $450, same price for wasr 10s

Unless you find a good deal theres not much to choose from in the cheap semi auto centerfire rifle. SKS about sums it up. I know I know , not sks. best bet is to save a little while longer.

If you're looking for cheap ammo prices are a factor too. If you want something bigger than a .22 it's hard to go wrong with 7.62x39 (AKM/SKS). My latest case of 7.62 came out to about 22 cents a round. Not too many rifles you can shoot for that cheap. My AK is just insanely fun to shoot too.

I saw this SKS up at Bob's a while ago that looked like it had really nice wood. It seemed shorter than the standard SKS too (sorry I haven't done my homework on them yet I am talking like a dumbass). I wanted it...badly. lol. I wonder if it's still there...

Can't go wrong with an SKS or AKM in my book.

What planet are you on? A Yugo M59 is nowhere near what even a WASR-10 typically costs these days.

Putting the way back machine to use, consider a remington 742 ? chambered in everything fron 243-30-06
You could have them for cheap not long ago.

I've seen the Cetme pretty cheap but I've never fired one and know nothing about them. It's in .308 and looks similar to a HK 91/G3.

Mike is absolutely right. These Yugo SKS's go for $289 - $349 brand new (or almost new). They are covered in cosmo, but they are good bang for the buck rifles. Where are you located?

You should be able to pick up a cheap and reliable beater Chinese SKS for about $225 on auction sites and have it sent to a local FFL.

Aside from an AK variant the only other semi auto that I can think of that uses commonly available ammo is a Mini 14 or Mini 30.
