Alright I've got just about 2 months to the day till i apply for the LTC, and while recently at a gunshop i saw a wasr 10 and a compact Para .45. I have no clue what the model is but all i can saw is it looked awesome. But realisticly with school in the fall, books and rent are going back to the front of the line which means my cash flow is gonna tank. but no worries still got my job for the fall and that will hopefully fund my shooting and other activites[cheers][puke2]........cause seriously who needs food[wink].

So what i've looked at so far have been the older S&W autos, so far ive only shot a friends 3913 in .40. I like it but im not a huge fan of the .40 and since 9mm is cheaper thats the caliber im looking for. Also im looking for smaller framed gun pretty much like the SR9, G19, M&P9. But im gonna be limited in my purchases but on the other hand I really really like the Para Hawgs, just somthing about them screams to me BUY BUY BUY.

And further note i've already decided to buy a Ruger .22 handgun, so thats what's gonna get purchased first. Also im not a big fan of the glocks (especially the highcosts), And i've shot the M&P and im pretty much meh on the idea of buying one.

So any ideas on what to look at?

I'd definitely go with the .22. It'll be cheaper to shoot and you will have plenty of time to practice before you purchase something with more bang. But that's just me. Personally I bought a 1911 as my first so take my opinion with a grain of salt haha

If you get a Ruger make sure you buy it from a shop who is willing to show you how to
take it apart and put it back together. The MK II/III series are a bitch to field strip.

Rugers are not that difficult to field strip, last i knew there was a you tube video that

explains it. Some folks will have a problem no matter what it is.

Before you jump out and buy something what are you gonna do with it, after that you

can focus in on which to buy, and with that we could probably help you.

The only think hard about stripping the MK IIIs are knowing when to hold it barrel up vs barrel down. After you do it a couple tomes it's a piece of cake.

^ Ayup. The MKIII can definitely be be a pain to completely disassemble, but your basic field strip is easy once you know how it all works. The hammer strut seating against the cross pin at the rear of the frame is the biggest problem for those new to the MKIII.

Regarding the Para: Yeah they might look awesome, but I will never purchase anything made by Para again. A few other members on here swear by theirs, but I had nothing but headaches with the two models I had at different times (C6 LDA, and P12 Limited). Do a little research on Para and you'll come up with many bad reviews.

Whats easier a to clean and disassemble a Browning Buckmark or a Ruger? Ive already put the money away for the .22, and depending on how much I spend on the .22 will pretty much dictate how much I spend on the centerfire caliber gun. I also saw the thread about the P6 and it looks like a solid gun for the money, even though its got a low capacity mag and those things are expensive.

I would not use the price of the 22 to dictate what you will eventually get for your centerfire pistol. If it's something your life may depend on, make sure you really like it and it's a reliable pistol. Save up if you have to. Just my 2 cents. My first pistol was a glock, skipped the 22 and went straight for the 9mm.

you're pretty much right. if it comes to that i'll just sell another gun to pay for the newer one.
