is it ok to shoot buck shot through a rifled barrel,or is this going to cause unwanted wear,or should i just buy a smooth bore barrel thanks for your input.

I would think it's probably not a good idea, but I'll let someone more knowledgeable answer definitively.

It's not wear, it's going to screw the hell out of your patterns such that you'll be more likely cause collateral damage than hit what you're shooting at. No, you should not shoot buckshot through a rifled barrel.

If you like shooting giant doughnut-like shot patterns, then you'll be perfectly fine...Vellnueve is right - buy a smooth barrel...

I use a short rifled barrel and buckshot in my home defense gun.

At the working distance, the larger pattern is a good thing. Keep in mind that "larger" means 8" instead of 4".
