OK here is a question for the collective

Since I know zero about long arms, and even less about handguns, I seek your opinions.


A friend of mine has a rifle.
It says Model 1896 Springfield Armory on the left side of the bolt carrier.
It has JLA 1897 engraved in the wood, left side of the gun

looks like it is a zillion years old, with a leather sling

My friend says it is a 30-40 Kraig.

What is it? what is it worth? Anyone want to make an offer?

It's worth anywhere from the $50 someone here generously offered to over $1000. More info is needed to give you an estimate of worth.
