I'm not a big fan of the Kushnapup Kit for a Saiga 7.62 (the 30rd mag runs into the grip).

Anyone know of any sources for CAI or KVAR kits?
Or any other kits in general?

Thanks.

Not a kit, but here is a complete rifle.

I went through a bullpup phase a couple years ago. I came real close to buying a AK bullpup, then I tried one. It was one of the worst feeling bullpups and triggers ever. Maybe it was the install, but I stayed far away after playing with it. Also, FWIW, there are rumors on the net about left handed shooters shooting AK bullpups and loosing teeth from the charging handle smacking them in the kisser.

I see them up for sale periodically. I guess that there is not much demand. It seems like some of them are just too much money for little substance. Look at your usual places and you'll find it soon enough.

Here's a couple of pics from that thread. Kit with bent blank that I have already drilled out and heat treated.

The biggest complaint on these conversions is the mushy trigger due to the long trigger wire. I'm fooling around with different ways of improving it.
Top pic is factory set up, lower pic is a new design I'm playing with.

The factory linkage is almost a foot long and has multiple bends, this is where the flex comes in that causes the mushy feeling trigger. The worst offender is at the rear where it not only dog legs 90 degrees, but also elevates about 45 degrees. This is the part I'm going to eliminate.

Although there is a lot of room for improvement, it's not really as bad as it's internet reputation. But it's no benchrest trigger for sure.

You should definitely register if you are into building at all. Although it's primary subject is building AKs, All types are covered, from bolt actions to M1919s

someone has suggested in your thread to use RC linkage. The main feature there is that it has threaded ends that allow to adjust tension. Those bent elbows will spring like nuts.

I think the biggest failure of this kit is to re purpose existing AK trigger into something doable, which most commercial companies trying to achieve. I'd start from scratch, then modify trigger group to fit your vision.

That is something that is discussed in the thread that I posted the link to, along with several other ideas that I plan on exploring.
