Hello,

I am very interested in getting my hands on an AK74 in 5.45x39 (ATF be damned). I put an ad up and am actively looking to buy one, so far, no bites. Does anyone know any local places in MA that sell/rent them? I'd like to get my hands on one. I tried a couple of local gun shops, no one has any. Thanks!

Sale: Try B&K Sales in Natick. If they are available he usually stocks them.

Try: MFL in Manchester, NH likely has them for rent on their range. They are Shooters Outpost in Hooksett, NH would have them for sale if available but these may not be MA compliant.

A few phone calls will cut down your running around to get answers.

I gave B&K a ring, no luck. I'll have to try MFL sometime.

You can drop the 5.45x39

When you say ak 47 people know you want some thing in 762 and 74 is 5.45

Go green and go to a nes shoot you'll be able to try guns for a lot less.

You're located in Brookline, MA, a "black" town that generally does not give out an LTC-A.

Does your license allow you to buy and possess a hi-cap long gun?

Fair enough. :)

Hi-cap is banned state-wide unless its preban. I won't be getting a 30 round mag unless I buy pre-ban military surplus. Brookline, unlike Boston, does not have an assault rifle ban. My LTC-A should have me covered.

Yes, they do give LTC-A, but with restrictions.

Large Capacity long guns only require ANY LTC. It is Large Capacity handguns that require a LTC-A ONLY.

I've gotten to shoot full auto stuff at the shoots . I didn't mean to come off like a dick.

I'm fairly inexperienced with Firearm construction. I'd like to either buy one converted, or have someone work with me to convert it. I don't feel confident enough to do it myself.

Fair enough .
If you want a ak just find one you like online and find a FFl to ship it to . 1776 a lot of guys send stuff to to make mass legalese.

My friend is building a amd 65 for like 420$

Dam, can't beat the price of doing it yourself. I know If I did it myself Instead of it being 1k~ for an Arsenal, it would be 500~600. Unfortunately, I don't know anyone who is willing to do it for me/help me do it.

No worries, NES Shoots sound great! I guess I'll have have to wait till a NES Member is willing to sell his AK. So far, no gun shop I have called has AK74s, specially not Arsenals.

Arsenals will be scarce. But Saigas are decent and when available they are more reasonably priced. That is what MFL and B&K were selling, when they are available.

There's build party's now and then . Some people lend tools out . Some people will offer to help you rivet and press the barrel.

I don't know much about USA made Ak's. but I know some you avoid and some are hit or miss.
So make sure you read up on the one you want . Ask questions there's a big ak group here .
If you can find one that's mass compliant contact 1776 and see if the'll pin it and transfer it or one of the other many ffl's in mass.

Saigas can be converted a few different ways . One way you just need basic hand tools . In the long run you got a Russian ak.

Suggest you buy the 5.45x39 ammo now(even if you have to have someone from out of state receive it and hold it) as the supply of surplus is dwindling very fast and once its gone, the price of commercial will rise along with the price of surplus, much like what happened with 8mm Mauser ammo, 7.62x25 ammo and British .303

The ak74 guns will be around.

Dood go to the car shoot later this month and try my 74 out. She's ugly as **** and loves to bang. FYI prebans will be costly, and GL finding a supplier that will ship to MA. AK 47 prebans are super cheap.

Also my AMD build will cost much more than $420 after big brother exacts their tribute.
