"Women Only Gun Classes"

Who are teaching these women only classes, a man?

That would be like totally ironic.
Originally, men taught all-women classes. However, over time, many women have become damn good instructors and now teach all-women classes.

Women do learn differently and there are different issues about how and where to carry a firearm (on one's person), so I'm a strong advocate of women instructors teaching women.

Having taught or organized 4 of these at my club, and having more than 80 women come thru.. I find that there's a certain vibe that comes from an all female class... more apt to ask questions and not feel judged by their classmates..

you also have to be able to teach.. even though the class I had would fit either gender.. it took a lot more effort to make the women feel comfortable than the men.. not sure how to explain it, but a different vibe..

I think female inst/female student classes would be best.. especially for things like "Intro to concealed carry" due to the specifics for each gender, the BFSC and Basic Pistol/Rifle should be fine with either gender instructor teaching women.

I would think it's perfectly normal for women to want to learn from another woman, in a women's only class.
I know a female instructor who holds numerous women only intro classes. She's great at what she does.
I hope nobody is saying a female instructor is somehow less than a male.

Yeah I would be at a loss trying to teach women how to carry concealed.

Not many. Most classes I’ve taken were all men.

Sometimes the instructors are all women, sometimes a mix. I helped out at a Woman on Target event that Jon Green ran some years back.

I don’t understand why some men are getting their noses out of joint over this.
This is a discussion board, if someone doesn't agree or share the same belief as you doesn't mean their noses are out of joint, you seriously don't want to go down that road lol

Anyways...

Are men "allowed" to hold a class and advertise it as "men only" or would women complain and say it is sexist?

Rhetorical question, based on history everyone knows the answer.

The most ironic thing is that (IME) if you take a man and a woman both of whom have never shot a gun before, a woman will be a better natural first time shooter. I think it's because they are more open to instruction whereas a man thinks he HAS to be a good shot simply because he is a man and not quite as open to instruction.

Asked my wife since she has been taking Women’s handgun training courses over the last few months.

There are fundamental differences between men and women. They learn differently, they ask different questions, have different concerns.

But the biggest thing is that a bunch of men will try and teach her things like she’s a damsel in distress when she can shoot circles around most men I’ve met. She can’t stand that and I don’t blame her.

Is this Class for XX Chromosomes or can a Trans Chick also attend?

Remember the East German women competing in the Olympic's back in the 70's.
I think the East German Women's Track Team were the forerunners of Woke Trans Movement.

Same reason they want women’s aerobics or
Any other organized activity. I think (based on my wife and many previous ex gf’s statements over many years) women
Feel judged on how they look and perform and generally feel self conscious. Think it’s just a comfort/lower stress thing.

That’s only the ugly ones.

I am a range safety officer at my club, so i deal with a lot of beginners about gun handling issues. This is not the same as teaching classes, but some of the experience is similar.

Men have a lot of ego tied up in their firearm skills, and I don't blame anyone, male or female, who doesn't want to receive basic firearms training around men.

I frequently see men with little to no experience boasting about their firearm skills, incorrectly explaining things to others, and showing off. When I have to speak to them, I do my best to avoid bruising egos, but sometimes that is impossible. They seem to believe that firearm knowledge is a test of manliness, not something that comes from education and practice.

It is widely known among instructors that women often have an easier time learning to shoot. They often come to classes ready to learn and listen, and their egos don't prevent them from focusing, learning new skills, and accepting corrections.

Firearms training is important, and everyone needs access to an environment where they are comfortable. If women only classes are making it easier for some women to get started, then I am all for it.

SIG Academy Handgun 101 does it very well for mixed classes of men and women. My wife and daughter went with me and they felt no gender pressure. A few years beforehand, my wife went to a women-only Intro to Handguns class in SoNH and came away very discouraged. That was the instructor’s fault, not hers.

I've never taken a women's only class but I think I would like it as long as the other ladies in the class weren't crying or being girly.

Most women are motivated differently than men. I remember one class where I was having a really bad night. The instructor came by and said: "With all your training I'd think you would do better than that". That might motivate a guy. I already knew I was having a bad night so I didn't need him to rub my nose in it. I heard him making similar remarks to the guys in the class. Fortunately the assistant instructor watched me and then had me change one small thing and it made a huge difference.

I think for the first one or two classes most women might feel more comfortable and less stressed to be in a women's class.
Agree 100%. The Mr taught me gun safety and how to shoot, but the first actual class I took was a women's only event taught by the late, great Jim Conway. I gained a lot of confidence from that experience. Personally, it makes no difference to me if the instructor is male or female. What matters is their approach to the subject matter and demeanor with the students.

I'm not sure why any man would care:

1. That there are woman's only courses offered.

2. Why there are women's only courses offered.

Seriosly.......why would any man even give a shit about this?

Its takes a special kind of group to be the absolute majority in most of the world and still feel oppressed
(especially in the US)
